Screen shots simply cannot be read
I saw 4+ stars and thought this must be good but I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. As others have noted, the screen shots of the code are horrendous. It's not that they are HARD to read; they simply CANNOT be read. See sample. They all look like that. There's not much value in a book on coding when you can't read the code.Kudos to Amazon for quickly refunding my money.

PRESCRIBED!
Swift is the new language to use to develop in apps in Apple. There are a few beginners to Swift programming who start to learn the language with some expertise in other languages such as C, Objective -C, and the C++. I got much-hidden info from this guide. The Author well writes it. Grateful!

Needs more content and structure
Swift is a great break-trough in programming languages, there is lot to learn in Swift but unfortunately this book did not help me understand anything about Swift at all. It lacks a proper exposition and development of the Swift core concepts, ideas and constructs. It does not have a correct order for introducing information, it does not build incrementally from previous ideas and has many more issues. Unfortunately I did not get anything from reading the book. I feel I lost the cost of the book and the only good thing about it is that it presents the name Swift on the cover.

Book is useless - code examples can NOT be read (blurry)
This book is unreadable in it's current printed form. The book relies on code examples which are shown through screen shot images impeded in the text. That in itself isn't bad, the problem is that ALL THE SCREEN SHOT IMAGES OF CODE EXAMPLE ARE TOO BLURRY TO READ. So sad.

Author needs an editor
The content might be really helpful. I don't know though because the writing is so clunky I couldn't get past the first couple of pages.

Poorly written, little useful information
I wish I had read the reviews more thoroughly before buying this book. It is very poorly written (including significant grammatical errors and typos) and contains very little useful information. I didn’t make it through very much of it, but what I read had no code examples and mostly consisted of headers with a paragraph or two of surface-level explanation per topic.

Low res code examples
They didn’t even bother to have the code examples typeset. They literally shoved in low res jpg images of code. Disappointing. Screenshots of Xcode are literally unreadable. They knew this and printed this garbage anyway. Don’t waste your money.

A waste of time and money
This was a very disappointing book. It was a waste of money and time. I learned nothing about Swift. Sad

Not a clear introduction to Swift programming. I sent it back.
After nearly 40 years of programming in 6 high-level languages (mostly Objective-C), I wanted to learn Swift. I thought Part 1 of this book would be a good introduction for me. It wasn't. I struggled through 5 chapters before sending the book back to Amazon. The style of writing seems weird, with concise technical language and colloquialisms in a confusing mix. I found that concepts less familiar to me, such as Hashable and Equatable (not Equitable, Mr Martin!) were introduced with almost no explanation or development, let alone examples. Many of the images or diagrams are blurry screen shots. I'll be looking elsewhere for an introduction to Swift. I hope Mr Martin writes Swift better than he writes English. Perhaps English is not his first language? My 2-star rating is in the hope that the later parts of the book are better that the first 5 chapters!

I don't recommend this
I ordered this book on 14th Aug and received on 30th Aug. It tool Almost 15 days to deliver.I remember seeing the picture with 3 separate books when I placed order. But I received only one book with 3 sections for Beginners, Advanced and Intermediate. It is a thin and small book.Beginners 1 - 69 pages, Intermediate 73-148 pages and advanced 151 to 211 pages. Overall 211 pages. Most of the important code snippets are not readable as those are taken from screenshots. The print is very light and small that you cannot read from the screenshot images. For the price (I have paid Rs. 1,938), probably we can get a better book.Disappointed.

Komplett unbrauchbar
