Super treat to reward and reinforce behaviors
Breeder and vet-approved for rewarding behaviors. Do not overfeed! My cats run crazy for these. Store inside another plastic bag to keep fresher and so cats don’t go hunting for the bag since the smell is potent!

I’ve never seen my cat get this excited about treats before.
My cat is not food motivated, like a lot of other cats out there, but she goes bananas for these. It’s been hard finding ones she likes and I guess she just happens to be a connoisseur. These are great, there’s nothing else in them besides the protein, and my cat loves them. The only downside is I have to break them down cos she’s a princess and have to wash my hands afterwards cos they stink. But it’s fish, so it is what it is. No complaints and a happy kitty!!

Great natural treat. 2/3 cats approve
I was excited to get a natural treat for my cats. Being as this was only salmon, I didn't worry about what they were consuming.Upon opening, there is a strong fish smell, which is to be expected for a fish product. The bag contains the odor really well, and there is no smell of fish in the treat drawer. I got these to give to my boy cat, as the two younger girls have feline herpes and get a daily lysine treat. The boy cat also demanded a lysine treat, and I thought giving him some other treat would be a fine substitute, so I could just save the lysine for the girls. Well, the youngest cat was very jealous that he was getting something that smelled so fishy, while she just got the lysine treat. So now they all just get lysine (since it is good for overall health anyway) and the youngest and the boy get one of these as a treat other times. The only reason I took a star off is because my middle cat turned her nose up at these. It is probably an issue with her, but I wanted people to be aware that these are not universally loved. Before I got these, I ordered the Temptations milk flavor treats. The boy cat and the middle cat loved those, but the youngest one turned up her nose. Cats are so weird. So now at treat time, I offer a mix of these salmon treats and the Temptations, so everyone gets something.

Yummy, Improve Behavior, Stimulate Appetite
My cat eats the shrimp out of my hand as a special treat. He knows what it means when I call, “Who wants a special treat?” And he comes running to the kitchen.I also use the shrimp for behavioral training. My cat gladly tolerates tooth brushing, bathing, claw clipping, eye drops, etc., in order to earn a plate of shrimp. I will keep the bag in view so he knows he’ll be earning shrimp and so that he can smell them too.My cat has become a champion, for the most part, LOL. We’re still working on how long he’ll tolerate the bath before he starts to struggle. Otherwise, he’s learned to accept everything else.My guess is that my cat enjoys the natural salty flavor and heavy odor of the shrimp. Although the bag is lightweight, there are a lot of individual pieces of shrimp, so it goes a long way. It’s a good value for the money, I think. These shrimp are also useful when my cat has a respiratory infection and loses his sense of smell making him uninterested in eating, because he’ll still be able to smell the shrimp. So I simply add shrimp as a topper to his regular food, and then he eats.

Cat attractor
I love the PureBites shrimp cat treats...because the cats love it! Especially the feral kitten I am taming. The freeze-dried shrimp are small, so I give several at a time as a treat. As a human "owner", I like that the treat is just shrimp...no filler. Cats need protein, and I prefer my cat treats to be high in protein. So the shrimp fit the bill. The fact that the kitten (and all the other cats) likes the shrimp makes it even better. There is a slight fishy odor when you open the package, but it is not at all unpleasant. The shrimp themselves have only a faint odor. It's certainly enough to get the cats' noses going when I open the pouch. The shrimp also make a nice sound when I shake the bag.I've been looking for a treat that my mostly-formerly-feral kitten really likes. She is hand-shy, and I'm using treats to teach her that hands bring good things. She liked this treat enough that I went out and bought a bunch more. The only down-side is that the package contains a fair amount of shrimp fragments as well as whole shrimp. That isn't a problem when putting a small pile of treats in front of a cat, but only the whole shrimp work when reaching out to the kitten - the fragments are too small. The other cats are happy to eat the fragments, so that isn't a problem. All in all, I am very happy with this nutritious cat treat.

A lot of tough fin and skin pieces mixed in
My cat loves the taste of these - of course, as the only ingredient is salmon. However, there are a ton of tough fin and skin pieces that just aren’t really edible even with their tough teeth. My cat will chew and chew and it will not break down which makes me worried about her choking on it. I have gotten in the habit of sorting out the skin and hard pieces which isn’t really convenient. There are also a lot of small, powder pieces from the fish being broken down and freeze dried which aren’t great for standalone treats but more for a food topper. I am conflicted because the taste and ingredients are great, but the appearance and pieces aren’t.

Great as a treat or a meal topper
I will often use this product as a topper for my six cats' evening meals. It helps my two picky ones to actually eat. They all love it and would probably make a meal of it if I let them. One cat in particular will raid the desk where we store the cat food and will usually hop back down to the floor with a bag of these treat in his mouth. We've caught him many times. I think he would eat the bag and the treats, too, if we let him. LOL
