Charming story
This first book of Harry and the Bucket full of dinosaurs was really cute. He found a box of dinosaurs in the attic. He cleaned them and repaired them. He was moved to research the names of each dinosaur. He took very good care of them and they went everywhere with him. One day on an exciting trip with his grandma on a train he forgot them and they were left behind on the train. His gran bought him a video to take their place. But that couldn't replace them. He is inconsolable. Finally Gran takes him to the train station to check the lost and found. Harry has to prove they are his by naming them, which he does. His dinosaurs are happy to see him and they whisper to him "You are definitely our Harry, definitely!"We got two more of the series but they didn't have the same charm. It could be they are for younger kids. My boy is 4. They were ok but never his favorites.

A great purchase!
I love the book. Very cute, very realistic to real world kids with their toys, feelings and imagination. I would totally recommend purchasing the book. Definitely a good age range 2-4.

Great story and wonderful illustrations.
This book is a favorite for me and my just turned 3yr old son who from the pictures on each page tells me the story now! The inside cover also has pictures and names of all the dinosaurs which we have fun with. It is big and bendy and the pages turn fairly easy for little hands but it seems durable too.

I really love this story
I really love this story! It's so sweet and creative. I love that each page the dinosaurs grow bigger and bigger (reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are-- each page of that story grows bigger and bigger too). I love that this boy loves his dinosaurs. I love that he defends himself against his annoying older sister (there are some criticisms that the word "stupid" is used, which perplexes me as "stupid" is not a bad word unless you are calling a PERSON stupid). I just love reading this to my son who in turn loves hearing it since he loves dinosaurs. Did I use the word "love" enough?

Gorgeous pictures, an endearing story, and imagination beats TV
We bought this book for our young daughters (they were approximately a year and a half old at the time) after one of them expressed an interest in dinosaurs. We looked hard for a book that was both informative about dinosaurs, but not too scary. Many dinosaur books for kids have tons of information, but also less stylized pictures. For a very young child, we thought that more realistic pictures might be a turn off, and we wanted more of a story than merely a compendium of facts. This book hits a home run in both departments! The entire story is very cute, but I was pleased to find a subtly deeper message than the main dinosaur story. In the story, Harry's sister spends nearly all her time 'on camera' watching TV, while Harry gets to have some rather large imagination fueled adventures. I really like the suggestion that a bucketful of dinosaurs (or anything really) can be way more fun than sitting in front of the TV.The anthropomorphized pictures of the dinosaurs are good enough to identify them easily. The Tyrannosaurus looks like you expect him to, albeit cartoon-y, as do the others but our kids were able to repeatedly point them out to us, quickly caught on to their names and were even able to identify more 'realistic' pictures of many of the dinosaurs after only seeing them in this book. I'd call that a success. Besides the dinosaur pictures, the rest of the book is full of beautiful illustrations.Sadly, as another reviewer comments on, they do use the word stupid once in the book. It is an unfortunate word choice, but easily replaced with silly when we get to that page. I may have to take more drastic measures to remove the word when my girls are old enough to read this on their own though. The choice of a single word isn't enough to deter me from recommending this book, especially since it does so many other things right. A little bit of circumvention makes this an all-star in our collection. It will not disappoint!

My 2 year grand daughtes love this book
What can I say? My 2 year old loves Dinosaurs so I had to purchase this book for her as well as other dinosaur books from the same author. I am well pleased with the quality of the book as well as the words written. It is among her favorite books. I also sent her a bucket of dinosaurs off the Amazon sight. I think her 2nd Birthday will be one of her best as she got her dinosaurs that she loves.

If I Have to Read This Book Again
Every child has one thing that they fall in love with. My little ponies. Barbies. G I Joes. For mine it's Harry and his Bucket Full of Dinosaurs. I have handmade her a "Patsy" and "Steggy" and "Rex", and she watches the episodes and reads the books over and over. They are perfect for her age (3), address appropriate issues, and definitely keep her bringing books over to me asking to read.
