Hi, I'm a chemist and work in the pharmaceutical industry. I brought the product but do not use it for food stuffs. I've had a look at the details of the product and it does not say that it is food safe. You need to look for one that states that it is food safe or says that it to the standard of the BP (British pharmacopeia ) or some other pharmacopeia which means that it can be used in drugs and therefore food. I suggest that you look at someone like special ingredients' on amazon or their own website as they sell products to be used in food. I also just want to check that you mean to buy sodium carbonate and not sodium hydrogen carbonate. As the former if used in anything but very small amounts may cause a very high pH and may make the end product corrosive. Whereas the later is used in baking products and baking powder.
