No sure what you mean by 6 pin actuator. This is a potentiometer style actuator for use with electronic style HVAC system. The are typically 4 pin. ( power, ground, signal, reference) Hopefully this helps.

What does this part do?

On my G M C there are 3 actuators Air Inlet,Temp Control and Mode Control. THE 604-107 actuator controls both the temperature and the mode control that controls air flow through vents,defrost or floor.or floor

don't know. on my 2000 Buick Century 2000, it was on the driver side tucked up under the dash. I had the top of my head up against the brake pedal looking up. hope that helps...good luck....
