Johanna Basford Land, Sea, and Sky: Three Colorable Notebooks Diary – March 10, 2020

I can't wait to fill the pages with words and coloring the artwork! As usual, Johanna delivers another beautiful collection of her unique, fun and inspiring drawings along with the opportunity to learn about how a drawing is created and colored. So far, I've been privileged to own every edition of her books and look forward to the next! Her latest, the trio of books filled with lined, graphed and dotted pages is absolutely adorable and I can't wait to get started with them!! A must-have if you're a colorist or illustrator!

These books are the elite in convenience and quality with the exceptional beauty for the most mundane tasks. They're further enhanced by the coloring magick which has helped me to be more creative in my projects. Overall best purchase this year..

I love these notebooks. I'd been waiting for Johanna to come out with notebooks that would work in my A5 travelers notebooks and these are perfect. The foiling is a perfect compliment to my beautiful Chic Sparrow A5 travelers notebook and they fit in it perfectly. I hope she'll make coloring books (not just colorable journals) in this size in the future as well. I'd buy them in a heartbeat!

Great notebooks; you can color the cover. Be aware that the inner pages only have a small illustration on one corner… and the pictures repeat four or five times.Notebooks are half-sheet size.

UPDATE: After having the notebooks for a little while I've edited this review to 1 star. I've really been giving them a thorough check and two negatives have emerged.1. The artwork repeats. In the lined booklet for example there are only about 8 or 9 unique pictures and then they just repeat those images throughout the notebook. That is lazy and cheap! Johanna Basford has enough artwork to pull from over her long career that there should be different designs throughout each book.2. The stitching comes out. On each notebook the stitching isn't actually finished off at all so a little bit of thread remains poking out from the stitched area on every book. If this end gets tugged at all it can lead to the stitching coming unraveled.With these new issues on top of the books already having the pungent chemical smell I find myself completely disappointed. If you're looking Basford at to color I would definitely look elsewhere because these are a waste of money!ORIGINAL REVIEW: I am debating returning these. They are beautiful notebooks. The foil is lovely and I like how the designs flow into the grid on the pages, but I am in agreement with another reviewer that these have a strong chemical smell to them and are headache inducing. I've noticed this in other notebooks I've ordered that are cheaply made in China so I wasn't surprised when I saw that these too were produced in China. It's really sad because aside from this I really like them.
