This book is an excellent resource for people heading overseas to teach English or in the process of starting an English ministry. It poses practical questions and presents situations that English teachers of students whose first language is not English will encounter. As one who has spent 3 years living overseas I would highly recommend this book.

Loved it!
I bought this for my teenager who wants to be a missionary and I read it too. The ideas motivated me and gave me confidence to get my own ESL Certification!

Groundbreaking Volume in English as a Second Language in Missions
Within the field of TESOL from a Christian perspective, Professor Jan Dormer has become a global leader whose voice is increasingly recognized. She has been involved for years with TESOL International as well as the Christian English Language Educator's Association, and she has written extensively regarding teaching English as a second language in missions. Her recently-published book, Teaching English in Missions: Effectiveness and Integrity, is a groundbreaking and definitive work in the field. As English continues to grow as the global lingua franca, and as more English speakers travel abroad to meet the burgeoning demand for English teachers, Dr. Dormer's book serves as a clarion call to Christian teachers to be faithful to sound principles of English education and, above all, to be true to Biblical Christian ethics and integrity. Typical of her previous work, she writes with a unique balance of educational philosophy and professional practicality. Through her writing, she has become a leader and mentor to Christian teachers of English all over the world.
