Love this ND Filter.
I’ve used this ND now for about two months. I have others but this is one of my two favorites. So far it has conquered all my needs. It even worked well for a commercial shoot I did into direct sunlight for silhouette shots An hair flinging shot. Not on complaint here.If you are wondering, The Freewell variable Nd filter set ar the other ones I love. I think The B+w variable has better color by a bit but the Freewell has magnetic filter caps and while that has nothing to do with the image I think it’s a very cool extra touch, so there is that. The Freewell has two in a set and the two together cover more ground and together are cheaper than the B+W as the one, however the B+W really does end up with an amazing color depth. If you can get both..... hey!

Excellent VND for the price
I looked at other VND’s prior to making this purchase and for the price I think B+W is the best. I looked at other similarly priced VND’s like the Peter McKinnon Polarpro but found that the B+W performed better in some cases like color saturation at certain stops, although the differences were slight. For the price I felt the B+W provided the highest value overall with excellent quality and I have not noticed any issues with color shift. The only small downside to the B+W is the bizarre dot marking which is supposed to show max/min levels of the ND. For example the minimum setting is one dot and the maximum setting is two dots. In between those options are still one or two dots spaced apart at various lengths. Why not just use numbers 1-5?? Either way, not a deal breaker but definitely an odd choice.

Lens hood does not fit after screwing on filter
Okay filter, but lens hood on a Canon 100-400mm L will not fit over lens filter after screwing lens filter on.

This one is great. Does it's job with no noticable change in ...
I've been interested in using a neutral density but was not thrilled by the prospect of having fixed light reductions and needing to swap out or stack several filters. Besides the cost begins to build. Having access to a variable 1 to 5 stop filter is what I was hoping for. This one is great. Does it's job with no noticable change in color cast going from 1 to 5 stops. If the 82 mm one was not so expensive I'd get one of those. This will have to do for now.

The OG of Variable ND
If you search through a popular video service you are going to find a gang of people that are reviewing a product that competes with the B+W Vario ND filter. At least one of those reviews touts how the competing product 'gives the B+W a serious run for its money' in performance. If you check prices, the B+W is actually cheaper. So what the reviewer actually said was that the competition costs more and isn't as good.Any questions?Let's get undone.

great quality
Worked as advertised, excellent color rendition, and love the stops on the max and min.

Works perfectly with no splotches
I read the reviews for other negative variable ND filters complaining about X's showing in photos, dark artifacts, and general unusable photos. I am happy to report that I experienced no issues so far with this filter shooting with a Canon 16-33 F4L lens on a Canon 5D Mark 3 at 16 mm and fully stopping down the ND filter. Well done B + W.

Disappointed
I have a number of B+W filters for my lens, but this one is quite underwhelming.- The rotating mechanism is quite loose and loud, not a good idea for recording video- The engraving product text looks sloppy, see the area right outside of the letters. I am pretty sure this one is authentic.
