Worked great in our old Vita-Mix 5000
I was skeptical to buy this Vita-mix 15955 speed control after some reviewers reported it had flat spots that caused uneven speed control, but after I installed it our blender I found the speed control to be smooth. I'm happy as a clam with it.Installation is a breeze too. I won't go into how to install it since Youtube has a couple videos on it. It took me less than 10 minutes to install. If it holds up for a few years I will be very happy with it.

Works perfectly on my 25-yr-old Vitamix 5000
My Vitamix 5000 developed some irregular speed at the low speed 5 years ago. We thought about getting a new one but we got by with it because the issue was present at very low speed. Now, after 25 years, The 500 still works well. So, I decided to think of repairing it. After seeing a couple of YouTube clips to make sure I have all needed tools and understand its simple procedure, I purchased this product and it arrived in the next morning. It took me less than one hour to complete the replacement. The time could have been shorter if I did not misplace a set screw for the driver socket. It is easier to remove the driver socket so that I don't need to touch the motor assembly. When loosening the set screw, just turn until the drive socket can be lifted. I turned too much and the set screw dropped in and I only discovered that after putting the top cover back. The replacement (white) is not identical to the original potentiometer (black) as some reviewers pointed out. Just to make sure to insert the replacement with its latch into the slot. In my case, the wires come out horizontally while they came out toward the bottom. Don't be worry about this. The replacement nut for securing the potentiometer is a little bit large (14mm) than the original one (13mm). I need to wrap the rod of the replacement with scotch tap so that the knob can snug back.

Good price and works great
The description made it difficult to discern if it would work. It wasn’t the right one for my vitamix model but we didn’t want to return and my clever, skilled husband did a little modification and it works perfectly.

Easy fix to ubiquitous problem with VitaMix's
I work in F&B, and a VitaPrep/VitaMix is part of the standard arsenal in every commercial kitchen. Unfortunately, the faulty speed dial is something that plagues EVERY model that I've ever used. The last place I worked had 6 VitaPreps and only 1 didn't have this problem - probably because it was still very new. As much as I love VitaMix, I am disenchanted by their nonchalant, denial of the issue and continue to produce units with bad potentiometers. Most of them last less than a year in a commercial kitchen, before they start to hiccup and jump speeds unpredictably. Walk into a commercial kitchen and you'll see splash marks on the ceiling just to prove the point. What makes me irate is that I've contacted customer service in the past, only to have them tell me that they've never heard of this problem. I've actually thrown away two 5000 VitaMix's because of this. I was told that I couldn't get the problem fixed. Fast forward to this week when I happen to see this part on Amazon! I already bought a new 5200, but figured it was worth $24 to try and fix the fault one it replaced. I watched a YouTube video on it and its extremely easy to swap out the part. It took about 10 minutes. My old VitaMix now works perfectly!

Not an OEM part & doesn't work correctly.
**Update** Review lowered to one star as it does not work! After using this switch in my blender for a couple weeks I removed it and sent it back. After installation, the machine had a hard time blending a number of foods as it would not "pull" the food down to the blades to blend. After speaking with Vitamix, they said this is caused by 2 things: Dull blades or insufficient blade speed.Since I didn't have this problem before the switch, I knew it wasn't the blades. It appears this switch does not have enough speed control. I removed this switch and re-installed my original and BAM! machine works perfectly again (albeit jerky speed control still). Bottom line: Non OEM switch that is inferior to the original. I would not recommend it based on my experience.Original Review: The description appears very misleading... In one line it says "Part approved for use by original manufacturer", then the lines below it say "Genuine OEM replacement part", followed by "OEM parts are best for safety and reliability." Decipher that as you can! That said, this part (white switch) is much lighter that the original (black switch) that came out of my machine. That doesn't automatically imply it's less quality, but it definitely doesn't appear to have the same build quality. Even the retaining nut is lightweight. The part numbers on the two switches are different (sometimes normal as parts supersede to the next variant), it's slightly larger & they have completely different designs.Potentiometers are simple switches - this is definitely over-priced, but it did install in my machine and seems to be working smoothly, unlike my worn-out original. I'll give this time and update my review if this holds up (or doesn't.)

Fit my Vitamix 5200
Good speed controller. Repaired my Vitamix 5200. This potentiometer looks different but fit perfectly. Its actually an improvement on the old one in that it has a slower speed increase at the bottom of the control range.
