UK only 20-track CD album from one of the most popular American pop groups of the early '70s who released a string of well-crafted, melodic soft rock singles that became the band's signature sound including the singles 'Make It with You', 'Everything I Own', 'Guitar Man' & 'Lost Without Your Love'; on CD for the first time it is widely regarded by fans as the definitive Best of Bread, presented in picture slipcase with artwork matching that of the 1977 Vinyl release. If only they were still going, oh what music we would have.
Do you have a song that is special to you? well to my late husband and me, "IF" by bread was our song to the point that as I was a singer in London when I met my husband, I sang it for him the day before he died and again at his funeral, tough yes, but important to do. during our 43 years f marriage we had a couple of songs but "IF" was the one we came back to. I bought the CD because it was on there and playing it was very soothing, but apart from that some of the other titles also brought back some great memories of happier times. You can hear every word this group sang as opposed to the music of today, you can dance to it as well, wonderful stuff

Man does not live by Bread alone but Bread is essential nonetheless! ;)

Pure Pop Bliss
I saw this CD at a shop in Malaysia earlier this year and sort of bought it on a whim. I remember hearing so many of these songs while growing up in the early 1970s, so it was one of those guilty pleasure purchases. But after playing this CD a few dozen times, it struck me how well this music still holds up after all these years. Wimpy pop tunes? No, not at all. I think this is just excellent music. Well-written songs with strong melodies, and David Gates's classic vocals. One reviewer lamented the absence of the song "Aubrey" on this collection. And they are right; that is an odd omission, especially seeing as how that song is included on another collection, "The Best of Bread." The only other negative thing I can say about this collection is that there are no liner notes that come with the CD. You get a thin fold-out "booklet" that includes the track listing, but no song times, and the songwriting credits and year of release can only be found in fine print on another page (get out that magnifying glass!). Nor will you find a list of the musicians who play on the songs or what instruments they played. Maybe I'm nitpicking too much, but a few details would have helped enhance my appreciation for this timeless music. Still sounds wonderful!

Pop/Rock At It's Finest !
In the early to mid 1970s I was listerning to Yes, The Moody Blues, Harry Nilson, The Carpenters, Focus, Cat Stevens and The Sound Of Bread.Looking at the 20 tracks now I see what a collection it was and still is.Bread never claimed to be more than high quality pop/rock and much of this sounds fresh as the day it was recorded.I rate these songs very highly, Make It With You, Anyway You Want Me, It Don't Matter To Me, Baby I/m A Want You, Everything I Own, Sweet Surrender and Lost Without Your Love. Also look out for some early synthesizer on London Bridge. Finally no one should be without the masterpiece which is Guitar Man, it's a true classic!

Disappointed
The main Song I bought this CD in the first place was for the only song which is not included, I have the original 1977 audio cassette, the song" Aubrey" is that cassette, it's not on this CD, very disappointed to say the least. So this CD is not actually the original recordings.
