Easy meal
This is my first time trying. The only other oats I've tried is American Quaker Oats but thought I'd give the Scottish ones a try. These are much pricier but also very good. The oats seem smaller but tender and have a nice flavor. Very yummy with brown sugar. This is nice to have in the house for times you're hungry but want something fast and easy and don't really want to bother cooking anything. I just pour the oats directly from the bag into a bowl and add a few slathers of butter, some brown sugar, and then pour boiling water from my kettle over all. The oats absorb it and it's ready to eat in just a few minutes. I also like that it's healthy. I'm happy with purchase and do plan to purchase again.

Good Stuff!
Because of metabolic issues, oatmeal is recommended. I have not eaten a bowl of oatmeal since I was 5 years old. It made me sick on the stomach and I said I would never eat it again. Again, health reasons cause you to adjust your preferences. I had started eating oatmeal, but wanted something with more fiber. When it first arrived, I fixed it according to the directions on the bag. It was good, but it looked too much like the oatmeal my husband eats. I fix mine by putting the 1/2 cup portion in the bowl and pouring hot water over it, allowing it to sit a couple of minutes. Similar to instant oatmeal. I like my oatmeal "chewy." WOW...talk about delicious this way. I fix it up with honey and occasionally add vanilla extract. I also add nutmeg, allspice and sometimes cinnamon and chia seeds. I also use English walnuts and dried fruit mixture (raisins, cranberries and cherries). I now eat a bowl of oatmeal almost everyday of the week. I love the chewy texture of the way I fix this. Good flavor and texture. WONDERFUL!!

The real deal
This is the best oatmeal (we got the kind with 10 percent added bran)!; be aware that this is not the pre-sweetened kind. This is real Scottish oatmeal (although it cooks in just a few minutes). Even my husband, not originally an oatmeal lover, has joined me in morning oatmeal most mornings for breakfast. We add turbinado brown sugar, walnuts and blueberries and do not need to eat anything else for 5-6 hours until lunch. The only change I would make in the directions is that the original instructions of 1/2 cup oatmeal to 1 1/2 cup water is way too watery; if you like thicker oatmeal (most of us do, right?), use 1/2 cup oatmeal to 1 cup water. At the price I paid, this bag provides 18 servings at 50 cents/serving. 'Can't go wrong.

Really fantastic product
My usual steel cut oats were out of stock, and my daughter and i are both oatmeal junkies. We get nervous if we don’t have proper oatmeal in the house. I admit I was a bit nervous about the product, with the added bran, I was afraid it would taste like cardboard. It didn’t help that it looked exactly like my horse’s feed. I took a chance and made a pot - and we love it even more than our favorite oats! The flavor and texture are much better, and the extra bran gives it a nice comforting flavor and settles nicely. Here’s how we make it indulgent:1/2 water and 1/2 milk of your choice1/4 teaspoon salt per serving1 tablespoon honey per serving1/2 - 1 tsp pure vanilla extract per servingIt’s almost perfect. It would be extremely helpful to have a resealable bag, but that’s a minor quibble.Eat more oatmeal; your body will thank you.

The Absolute Best
This is my everyday got to. it is smooth and delicious and as comforting as a food can get. I add a pinch of salt, a pat of butter and good shot of sugar free vanilla coffee flavoring (I'm diabetic). It is an old world product. When I say that I mean there are occasional husks in the mix. If this bothers you they sell Quakers at you local super market. It is not pinhead or rolled/steelcut oats. They are smooth and creamy. Definitely worth a shot if you like oatmeal. I've tried a lot of them. This or the red bag is the bee's knees.

More flavor and health in your oatmeal!
I tried Hamlyn's Porridge Oats and Bran as a replacement for another maker's Scottish porridge which was no longerbeing sold. The taste and texture of this product - oatmeal and l0% bran - are so good I have been eating it every day.I am on my third large pack in just a few weeks. The health benefits of bran, together with oatmeal, seem even sweeter when you can cook it up in a couple of minutes simply by reducing the ratio of oats to water to 1:2. Delicious!
