Is this the large black cartridge that is in the front of the epson xl-810 when I change the cartridge. It's double the size of the other cartridges.

I am trying to find the mb cartridge and i keep getting the pbk. how can i tell which is which when ordering? sorry if this is a stupid question.

You definitely need to be careful about Black (Black) versus Photo Black (PBK). As the previous respondent said, the number for Black is 273 black-- or, if you do a lot of printing, the 273XL cartridge might be worth your while. It definitely DOES print twice as many copies, as advertised.

If xl-810 printer says in need of cartridge 273 273xl, is that two cartridges? is one of those the photo black cartridge on right of cartridge rack?

On the right is the PBK or photo black cartridge. It's narrow like the other colored cartridges. On the far right is the BK or black cartridge, which is used for printing text. It is twice as wide as the others because you will use more of that ink. If you buy the XL versions, they are the exact same sizes but have more ink in them and will last longer and cost more. The printer should warn you which exact color you need to replace.

Is this item the XL? I'm concerned because a reviewer stated that "this is not the xl."

If it says XL after 273, then it is most certainly the larger capacity cartridge. As a word of advice, the generic cartridges caused me a great deal of problems in the past. I know the Epson ink is more expensive, but I will never, ever fall into the trap of saving money with generic cartridges.. I guess the old aphorism- Penny wide, pound foolish is true!
