Just what I needed for my jet pump. The pump's motor starts softly then continues to ramp up until it reaches maximum RPMs. No more trip breakers. No more HARD and FAST starts! This will definitely prolong the motor's life a few more years.

I recently bought some power tools that would often trip the circuit breaker in my garage when starting. This soft starter solved that problem. Rather than drawing tons of current while trying to instantly get to full speed, the tools now gently spool up. Much cheaper than rewiring the garage.

I bought this as an addon to an ancient bandsaw I picked up off craigslist. The saw had an arrangement you'd commonly see on older second-hand tools- an separate AC induction motor was being used to power it. Turning the thing on was a loud affair, and the belt driving the saw would jump. This device resolved that. I believe I'm going to get much better life from the saw. I'm hoping the voltage ramp-up that this device uses to accomplish its soft-start capability isn't harmful to the motor over time, but I can't comment on that.

Installed this on my 120 volt, 1/2hp shop door motor. Worked perfect for about two months. Thought I had the answer but then it failed. My shop door would open about 2 feet and stop. I removed the soft start and the motor now works fine. I hope the company that makes this product contacts me. There must be a warranty on this product. I may have just received a defective unit. I would be happy to send it to the manufacturer for failure analysis if someone tells me where to send it. I would also like to try another unit. In summary; the product works great but failed shortly after installation.

12/3/2023 Update: got the original unit replaced. Took a bit, but I am satisfied with the resolution. I am off-grid, and while my inverters are big enough to handle big start-up loads, this unit prevents the occasional fault.Original review: Worked well to start my miter saw and chop saw, then one day it just started acting as if it's not there. Same surge amps with or without it.

The soft start worked great for the first month of use. I was able to use my 1hp jet pump off a 2000 wat max generator, power tools and air compressor. After about a month, if started acting up, would run saws but not the 1hp pump, then it wouldnt run anything. The return window closed fast on it, so I am down the money and cant run my pump. I will make a soft start of my own, even though it will cost more than purchasing a new one.

I think it is very important to let you know that this unit WORKS !!! I am using it connected to a15amp water pump and works perfectly. I am using it configured as it came from factory, in other words, with the 2 second delay. The peaks when the water pumps starts, on the phase it is connected, have reduced significantly, not 100%. How am I measuring those peaks? simple: I have UPS devices connected to the same phase. Before installing this device every time the pump started the UPSs woke up and protected the connected devices. Now the pump starts and the number of times the UPSs wake up has been reduced.

Purchased at the end of September 2022 to use with my cow milker. It worked great, was used daily with no issues, then one day out of the blue (3 months in) it stopped working.
