Beginner set
My daughter is enjoying this Chess set and she’s learning how to play the game! I wasn’t sure if she understood what it was telling her to do, but she seems to adapt to the instructions and getting more involved with the game. I probably will try other learning methods including her school’ chess club for beginners.

It cheats and does not recognize valid moves.
I bought this for my 10 year old to help him train for tournaments. I'm no grandmaster, but I recognize the benefit of queen trades. This machine will forbid the trade ultimately stopping the match. Every time it will tell, not suggest, you to take a pawn (with no other benefit) over a queen. If it set up a larger attack then fine, but to take a pawn with a crystal established with a queen is a losing move. It won't even let you skip the warning. It just tells you that you can't move unless you do what it wants you to do. That's cheating.

Weak chess engine
Now that I look, I note that the info on strength rating is curiously missing from the description above, which focuses on the virtues of learning chess more than what this chess computer can actually do. The reason I'm looking is because even at a 30-min game setting, I am still beating it over and over. It's not a challenge. Ironically, I tried it on tutor mode and it kept telling me to be careful --as it kept losing. It should follow its own advice! It does not play strong, positional chess and doesn't seem to understand gambits-each time asking me if Im sure suggesting that my move is a mistake. Looking through the manual (which is written in terrible English, btw), it says on the point: "Our model has about ELO 1700 rates." I'm an intermediate player and can definitely say this is way below 1700. I would say it feels more like a 1400, or maybe 1500 at best but could be as low as 1300.It does not make the strongest moves, notable in it's opening set ups. This allows any decently strong player whose studied the game to dominate esp. in the opening. I don't know why they made it so weak. Going to return for this reason, unfortunately. For absolute beginners, it is good enough (for a while) I guess, but I question if it's going to really teach them beyond the basics.

Easy to learn to play chess
This chess set is great. The quality is good. It is well made and sturdy. As stated there are different options to play. I choose an option to teacher my daughter on how to play chess. When I am not home she can play and practice by herself. 2 players can play together. The voice of the board game made it very sophisticated. It fit nicely in a case for easy traveling and bring on the road. Overall very happy with the purchase.
