Great sounding high quality receiver amplifier
This AXR85receiver amp is of high quality construction and sound great. At 85 watts it is powerful enough for my medium size living room and has power to spare. It sounds clear and the stereo separation is excellent. The construction is first class and the color is great.

Absolutely amazing :))) wonderful amplifier from Cambridge Audio
My old amp purchased way back in 1993 was about to reach the end of its life so decided to go for this as a replacement and splashed out on new Cambridge speakers too. I decided on Cambridge Audio as I've heard nothing but good things for years and happy to say totally justified. This amp is nothing short of amazing even though it's the budget end.I basically wanted something with a mm phono stage and cd and tape deck inputs no bells and whistles. It was nice this came with Bluetooth and golly gosh the sound from that is a revalation too!All the input devices sound fantastic. I discovered I can stream Spotify from my tablet via Bluetooth and too sounds amazing. Also music from SD card via power amp app on android.Easy to set up with speaker wiring and inputs.FM is good though I bought a better antenna as it arrived with a basic long black wire one. AM well its not really a big deal. All in all absolutely wonderful bit of audio equipment.Hope my review is helpful.

Wow - is this real?
Turn off the central heating; travel everywhere by pedal cycle; eat beans of toast for two months. Do whatever you have to to afford this receiver. It is awesome. The output drives my floor standing Wharfedales without taking a breath and the sound quality is both mystical, sweet and clear, yet deep and concise at the same time. Be prepared to have to nail down the floor boards every now and then and put masking tape on the windows to stop them shattering, but that's a cheap price to pay for affordable perfection. (The AXR100 is practically identical except for the extra power and it has optical inputs whereas the AXR85 has mostly analogue.) Listen loud with deep joy.

Massive Disappointment
Sadly my unit arrived faulty. 2 of the front panel buttons to switch sources were faulty and didn't work.I could switch them with the remote control. However the remote is really poor quality. A product at this price point by a well known brand should come with a decent quality remote control. I would not have expected it to have left the factory faulty from a well known brand as Cambridge audio.I played a few records on it via my Audio Technica LP120 turntable and my (at time newly acquired Wharfdale Diamond 12.1's) and I have to say it didn't blow me away and didn't sound any better than my Denon Micro RCD M40. (I thought I would treat myself to a new amp)I found the volume display very odd 0db being the highest level (the db level goes down as you increase the volume). I couldn't get my head around that.I've recently just acquired a Douk X1 for £120 this sounds great (to my ears) and has been a joy to set up and listen to.On the whole very disappointing I think I would have sent it back even it wasn't faulty.

Excellent product
The sound quality on this item is superb! Not the most expensive product in the market but fantastic for the money. Aesthetically pleasing. I would highly recommend!

Fantastic!
Bought this (and the matching CD player) to replace an all singing and dancing Yamaha amp that I bought in February and hated from day one. What a difference! The sound is powerful, crystal clear with great customisation options and the phono stage is far superior to my Yamaha.I’m now a convert to Cambridge Audio - build quality, sound, design in fact everything is 11/10.A VERY satisfied customer! :-)

Great clear natural sound
Great looking and sounding amp.Bluetooth easy to connect and seems to cover about a 7m radius from the phone.Nice gradual volume control.

Great sound but returned due to fan noise and practically unusable remote control.
The media could not be loaded. The Panasonic mini system which my parents bought be for about £80 in the 90s honestly had a better remote control than this. And I am at a loss why any manufacturer would put a cooling fan which makes a noise like this in a £430 amplifier. Just charge £20 more and install a decent fan and include a remote with volume buttons which actually work.A real shame because the actual amplifier does look and sound fantastic.
