Excellent writer, huge reservoir
The pen is beautiful. It writes very well. Not well like a Pelikan Souveran M800 or something, but very well. And the ink reservoir is extremely large. One fill for this pen lasts and lasts and lasts. I usually use it at my desk (rather than carrying in a shirt or jacket pocket, purse, etc), but so far no leaks, not even the "micro-droplets" that sometimes spatter the inside of caps. Feels good posted or not (I prefer posted). Has a nice heft to it. Without weighing it, I'd say in the hand it feels pretty close in weight to the aforementioned Souveran. Note others' comments about ensuring the fill cap is loosened just an eighth of a turn or so to ensure best ink flow.

Great value for money
This pen is an excellent performer. I flushed it with water, emptied it and inked it with Iroshizuku Tsukushi. It started very quickly and has been writing well ever since with no skipping. The nib is extremely smooth and, best of all, this is a large pen that is very comfortable in my extra-large hands. The vacuum filling system worked splendidly right out of the box. A few months back, I bought a Pilot Custom 823, of which this is a rather blatant copy. The 823 wrote so smoothly, but the filling system was faulty and I had to return it. An irony that this cheap clone is working better for me at a tenth of the cost. The fine nib is a little finer than a Western fine, but not as fine as a Japanese one, it's more like a Japanese medium-fine. If this got lost or damaged, I would replace it with the same.

A wonderful writer that eventually developed a crack and started leaking ink.
I was very happy with my WS699. It was a wonderful smooth and wet writer. I have used it exclusively for about half a year. Love ended suddenly when my hand was covered in ink. Upon closer inspection I have noticed a crack on the top of the barrel, right under the piston cap, that was leaking ink. Given that the pen was only used as a desk pen and was more or less protected from daily wear and tear, this was very surprising.I guess you can't have a Pilot 823 for $30.UPDATE : a replacement pen arrived with a crack in exactly the same place.

Not a fine point nib
Good writer but not the fine point I ordered. Fills easy and doesn't leak.5 stars if it was a fine point.

Great pen for the price.
I have a fairly large fountain pen collection. Mostly mid- level priced. This one caught my eye for its look. I generally don't like plastic or lucite pens but for the price and the good reviews, I gave out a shot. First thing I noticed was the weight. For a plastic pen, it feels good in the hand. It does have metal on the cap and foot. Very easy to fill with the negative piston system. Inked up very well. Writes very smoothly, no scratching. Holds alot of ink. I got the clear brown and gold do you can easily view the ink level. For the price this one is a no brainer.

Smoothest tip on any Chinese-branded pen I've tried
What's not to like? Seems pretty solid. Plastic body seems to be lower grade than name-brand demonstrator pens, but not in a bad way. Time will tell on durability. Huge ink capacity and novel, fairly straightforward filling system vs. squeezing a little bladder or twirling a screw plunger. On these vac pens, one feature is supposed to be the ink chamber sealing from the nib by tightening the rear knob. Not sure if this one does that or not--my end cap is firmly tightened, but ink still seems to be flowing (or the feed holds a lot? I don't know), I don't particularly care and I haven't used one of these before so I may be doing something wrong,The huge plus for me was the nib. SUPER smooth on the unit I received. Mostly when I buy Chinese pens I expect the nibs to be a bit scratchy at worst (you get what you pay for), but this was head and shoulders better than I expected (and better than any of the five or so Chinese pens I've bought), and a very pleasant surprise.Mine wrote wet, which in combination with the medium tip produced a line a little thicker than your average ballpoint pen on Wally World notebook paper, but not by much. Ink plays into that as well, so who really knows.Overall a home run value for $30.

Best fountain pen I own
I own about five fountain pens and this one is by far the best. Insanely smooth nib, doesn't dry out even after months, solid construction. The piston filling system is great for getting a large amount of ink in but note that it won't really work with samples and you'll need actual ink bottles to fill this. I tried with an ink syringe but wasn't able to get ink in there either.

No break-in needed, skip free
Wrote great right out of the box. Large but not heavy, medium heft. Looks much nicer than other Chinese pens that arrived looking cheaply gaudy. May buy a demonstrator also. I like to have a nice pen to carry around and leave my vintage Parker at home. This is perfect. Looks almost like a Pelikan. I have had expensive looking (from a distance) cheap pens. This is an inexpensive pen but not cheap by standards of Chinese pens, so you get a nice writing instrument. Would buy again. In fact, first Chinese pen I would buy again. Don't assume it is scratchy until you try it on good paper. Mine needed no polishing.
