Be wary - this version is more complicated than the original - but really involved and engaging.
First played at Christmas with two board gaming geeks, the recipient of the gift (14 yrs) their elder sibling (18 yrs) and their mum. Took a little work setting up what is an unconventional board that works very well in giving the feel of magical teleportation and transition.Rules are clear enough to allow a studied first run through that is still enjoyable although possibly designed for the lower to mid teens rather anyone younger to play unless supported by parents. The game length was generous and play involved to keep the participants engaged with a few quirks that set it aside from the original version of Cluedo.Well worth the money, solid and substantial build, great for both Potter and Cluedo fans alike!

Good HP / Cluedo Crossover
My family love a good board game, and have given Cluedo a good workout over the years. We're all big Harry Potter fans, too, so this seems an obvious choice, right?Assembly was easy enough and would have been even easier if we had read the instructions properly! We had to mount the under-board wheels twice before getting it right, and it's obvious, really, so we didn't cover ourselves in glory there. The game has some nice new features to both aid and hamper the players progress, including the Floo network for fast travel, and the locking / unlocking of rooms. Seeing all the characters appear in the Cluedo situations was good, but felt fresh with the HP universe. If I was being picky, I would say that not having the item's (think murder weapons) and characters as 3D was a missed opportunity.Overall, though, we spent a few hours playing it twice through on our first session and thoroughly enjoyed it & will definitely not be too long before we're back to it. Thoroughly recommended.

Partner loves it, but it's m'eh
It's a good looking box of cluedo, but missed out on loads of good features. Could have benefited from some nice figures for the playing pieces for example. The additional rules for this cluedo, upon inspection, just seem like a gimmick, (I'm looking at you 'flu powder'.... But, overall is a good game.

Great fun for the family and kids
I was a huge fan of the original Cluedo when I was younger, and my kids are huge fans of Harry Potter, so it's a great mix! We've played it a few times now. Lots of rules and can seem complicated at first, but once we got the hang of it, it was great fun. My 8 year can play it, but my 6 can't, it's a little too advanced for her. It does say 9+ on the game though. Highly recommend if you're into family board games.

Beautiful board, but.. what happened to the rest?
As a huge fan of the BBC Sherlock series, I knew from the moment I saw this board game in a comic shop in Birmingham, England, that I had to have it. Not wanting to spend $50 on a board game, I bought it instead online for closer to $40.Upon arrival, I ripped it open with much anticipation. The board itself is wonderful, as are the cards. Detailed, lovely descriptions of each of the characters and places. The board has rooms taken directly from the series -- Holmes' study, Baskerville Laboratory, etc. However, when I noticed the game pieces I was a bit taken a back. The characters weren't much more than plastic question marks with colored bases -- colors that didn't match up to the characters. Of all the colors, only four actually matched to the squares on the board, leaving us to use a yellow in place of a purple and so forth. The weapons feel as though they were sculpted from left over soda tins; the rope is a piece of plastic you'd find on the back of a toy soldier, if soldiers used rope to hang their enemies with. The game itself is fun, but other than the board and the cards and the box, the customization is rather lacking and not worth the close to $40 (American) price tag.As Holmes would say, "It's Elementary, my dear idiot. Put some effort into it."
