Some of the best cumin seeds I've found. Definitely fresh. I cook a lot of Indian food and cumin (jeera) seeds are a base for almost every dish. It has an earthy, peppery taste. It helps really add depth to a dish with a little kick that is great for those who can't handle "spicy" ingredients but still want some heat. This particular brand is very fresh and has a great aroma. I've noticed with other brands I buy at the store they have a slight aroma but most their flavor is dull, like they've been sitting on the shelf for years. I'd also like to point out that this came really well packaged. The wide-mouthed container is great for getting a spoon into and they seran wrapped the bottle during transit to maintain freshness.

Rani brand spices are an excellent value compared to what you find in big chain supermarkets. I compared them side by side to a brand from the supermarket, Rani had both a better aroma, and better flavor. This was my fifth purchase from the brand, I like that even their smaller jars have a generous amount of product.
