So before I talk about the special discs this uses, the actual grinder is great. Spins fast, batteries last decently long, and the brake stops the wheel from spinning very quickly once you release the trigger. I've only had the kickback brake trip once, and it just stopped spinning, but turned right back on again. These are important safety features if you are not familiar with these type of tools, they can be extremely dangerous. If you're in the market for a grinder I would really recommend spending the extra money to get one with a brake that stops the wheel from spinning when you shut it off. Its also nice that it can run both 4.5 and 5 inch wheels. You can also use this grinder as a cut off tool, though our friends at bosch make you buy the cut off guard separate. All in all its a solid grinder at this price point when compared to other brands at a similar price. I've probably ran this thing for 10 hours so far and have sad zero hickups, and I still have all my fingers!Now the wheels, yes they are very expensive if you buy them on amazon or other websites. However, I found a contractor supply store in my area that sells them in store for $3 for a 5 inch 1/4 grinding wheel and 2$ for a 5 inch cut off wheel. You can find them cheaper on websites like Zoro.com, and home depot sells decently priced wheels for this under the diablo brand (search diablo x-lock on home depot and it should come up). If you are someone who swaps wheels out frequently you really cannot beat the convenience of swapping a wheel out in two seconds (seriously its that fast). You can even swap the wheels out easily while wearing thick welding gloves. I personally do not have space or the power outlets to have several grinders set up with different wheels as some people recommend which made this the perfect alternative.If you're ok spending a bit more on wheels for the convenience of swapping the wheels out quickly between projects this is the grinder for you. I maybe go through 1-2 cut off wheels and grinding wheels a project so the bit extra I pay for the wheels is worth it in my opinion as I don't go through that many.

I change wheels often and go from cutting to grinding to wire wheel a lot when Im welding and this setup makes it very very quick and easy when I got mine they were very hare to find wish I had gotten the more powerful one but the one I have works great I have a Dewalt flexvolt if I need more power but then im back to wrenches to change discs.Love this tool and it makes a big difference if you use the 8ah battery im going to try the 12 ah see if that is even better.

Requires exorbitantly priced proprietary grinding discs. Grinder didn't even come with a single disc. Don't waste your money. Look up wheels for this before buying.

Replaced my corded grinder and feel this has more power. Really amazing to have the power and convenience of the X-lock in one unit. Bosch did well. Many of my new Bosch power tools are not made in Germany. This grinder is ! It’s special to Bosch 😉
