great product easy install
Was simple to install in new pond build, and works good. Make sure to line the holes up before applying silicone. fits right into a 3inch abs elbow. I did have a couple small koi go through the drain but was able to remove them from the pre filter unharmed.

A fine drain but not so easy to remove the top without draining the pond.
I needed two drains but everywhere I looked only had one so I got to do side by side comparisson with Tetra's drain. While there were some differences between the two the main one was how the top attaches. Tetra has you fill the top with sand and then plug the fill hole. Now it is dense enough to stay in place. The Koi Toilet II uses 6 screws to hold the rings together and 3 more to hold down the top (which will quickly float away otherwise.)So after filling my pond I found a PVC line that I put in for future use was capped but I forgot to glue the cap and it was leaking. Not wanting to lose all that water, I took the tops of the two drains and covered the drains with scrap liner and a rock. I was able to cap the line and only lose a little water.I left the tops on in case there was another leak and sure enough the pond was leaking. My son finally figured out why- the three screw holes for the top were letting water seap out. It was hard to line up the screws without water in the pond, with water it was very hard- especially as holding my breath made me float up to the top.Moral of the story- if you don't make mistakes, this is great but if you do, it can be a real pain unless you drain your pond. For me, I'd rather spend $10 more for the on/off ease of another style.

the top ring was slightly warped and the screws felt like they would not tighten down
The mold left rough, unfinished marks all over the drain body, the top ring was slightly warped and the screws felt like they would not tighten down. The instructions were awful. If I hadn't installed several other Bottom Drain's before, this would have been impossible with the directions given.

Difficult to align and horrible for long term use
I build ponds for a living. I love bottom drains on ponds and use them all the time. I will never use this one again. I was prepared for having a difficult time to with aligning the screw holes and screws that clamps the liner in-between the drain. They are all difficult, there is no escaping that. But the drain cover has to be screwed on the drain by 3 screws or will float to the top. The issue with this is, if you have a clog in the system ie..rocks, debris, leaves..etc at the the elbow of the drain you would need to drain the whole pond in order to clear the clog from the top. Which is a huge and expensive job to accomplish over a clog. I didn't screw the cover on because I do this for a living and I know what to expect and be prepared for it. I used PVC red hot glue and glued them in.. I tested it and they came off easily with a wiggle a little pressure up. So it will work this way. Hope this helps someone!

Sturdy, but poor design
Performs well,.easy to get a good seal, but the design is not good. The holes for the screws are counter sunk below the surface of the dome. The bottom of the channel for the screws is not tapered so you have to perfectly align the screw with the hole and drop it over and over or have a stronger magnetized screw driver. There also is not a counter sink in the flange so it is difficult to get the dome aligned with the flange. This isn't a big deal until you have to remove the dome for some reason. With your arms and legs in COLD water it doesn't take long to get aggravated with the design. A snap on type lid would be much better.

Simple product easy Instal
I had no problems installing this drain. Seems solid. The three inch size was perfect for my small ~400 gallon pond as the 4" would have needed to much flow to stay clean.Does a good job of moving water at bottom of pond. Leaves don't get a chance to settle in pond.

great koi toilet.
I bought this and installed it into my new pond. Amazon then asked me to rate it. I couldn't think of a good way to test it so I went ahead and shat in the pond. The s*** floated for a few days and eventually broke into pieces which were eventually sucked down the koi toilet.10/10 would dump in my pond again.
