WOW! This book is incredible!
I grew up with five brothers and never learned how to put makeup on correctly. I tried learning from Teen magazine and Vogue only to end up looking like The Bride of Dracula. I gave up until trying because I have really young looking skin and people always told me how nice my skin was. I turned 46 this year and read an article about aging skin and decided to try to figure out this make up stuff again. I went to Dillard's and asked one of the clinicians if she'd show me how to apply it to look natural. When I left there I looked just like her! Not exactly what I was hoping for. I found Face Forward on Amazon and the reviews were good so I bought it. The book teaches you step by step, everything from face shapes to contouring and how to make your eyes look awake.......since getting this book I've actually turned heads (I am 46 years old......OMG I thought that was a thing of the past!) I am interviewing for jobs and I feel so good knowing that I am putting my best face forward..........wonderful book!

Kevyn's artistry is absolutely astounding.
Pleasantly surprised to learn that it's a book about feeling comfortable with yourself, no matter how made up you are. Multiple sections on the basics, looks developed for ordinary people (male and female) alongside their own stories, as well as multiple sections from celebrities, which is more on the glamorous side giving you the details of how to acheive those looks as well. The celeb pictures are stunning; look for Drew Barrymore, Winona Ryder and many others. A very informative, quick read with detailed pictures and instructions.

A great book for different celebrity make over looks.
This book arrived in good used condition as described, you could actually barely tell it was used as I have seen books on the shelves of bookstores that were no worse for wear. It is a great book with picture and detailed information for creating the each celebrity look created, with the picture on one side and the information on the other page. The make overs are amazing. I actually owned this book new and it was lost in my move so I was very pleased to find it for such a great price to replace it. I highly recommend it.

Kevyn Aucoin doesn't think very highly of you.
(Please bear with me: I have ADHD and organizing a commentary is tough!)Kevyn Aucoin heaps praise and brandishes amazement over the ability of some actresses (but never any actors) to endure hours of being photographed or interviewed. He cannot go two sentences without criticizing conservatives or making some outrageous generalization about what Americans think. He actually spends more time talking about how everyone is so hateful and ignorant than he does about make-up.He comments that he ran out of the movie theater trying to watch "Boys Don't Cry." I know he's dead now, but this is a guy who is missing a few screws. He can't even make up his mind about whether he's going to be bothered by other people's opinion of him. Frankly, I'm sure no one thinks much about him at all.In case you were wondering, he also weighs in on fur, meat, transsexuals, gun control, Clinton, the environment, the 1960s, the (nonexistent) oppression of women, slave labor, child workers, animal testing, recycling, Bette Davis being the greatest actress the world has ever known (!), and on and on and on.He seems to have written this book as a response to criticism of his earlier book (which apparently lacked details about how to apply make-up to achieve certain effects). He is a BAD WRITER. For example: He says one should apply "foundation (to match)," but he never once says to what.

I look through this book a couple times a month. Great investment.
A great follow up to Making Faces, the late Aucoin teaches fundamentals in easy to understand sketches and descriptions. The real enjoyment for me comes from his makeup theory (i.e. makeup is to enhance the natural beauty in all women, have fun, and there are no "rules"). I love how in this book, he doesn't just try out looks on celebrities, but also on his mother; his love for her shows through the stunning transformation.I could go on about this book forever, but anyone interested in a good beauty book for skills, inspiration, whatever- you can't go wrong with this book. Making Faces and Face Forward and constant staples in my beauty life.

Tragic lose of talent and intelligence
When Kevin Aucoin died earlier this year it was a loss of not only a great talent but a good human being. This book is delightful and is very instructive on how to make your face transform withe either small effort or more in depth work.I have no problem using the photos and instructions given in this to achieve what I desire. This book and "Making Faces" have changed my whole outlook on make-up and how I use it to my great joy!You should read the entire front section and it may help to have "Making Faces" as well to understand all that he shows you in this book. But it is mostly intuative once you get going!Hurrah for Kevin and my deepest sorrow that he was taken from this earth much too soon.
