Good product
Solid, easy to use, but a little hard to center on an "X" or circle on a piece of wood. If there were a shade less high above the wood, it would help. There's a tick mark, however, that helps. Altogether, though a good product.

Critical Tool in my Workshop
The media could not be loaded. I really like and use this tool often in my wood shop. The tool is very accurate and is built very stable. It performs quite well when used carefully. The ability to open the jaws and use with different drill bit sizes makes it quite versatile. Its appearance is exceptional.I used this to join the pieces of walnut for a Thomas Jefferson replica bookstand that turned out perfectly.

Advance DIY Device
I'm pretty handy and this got the job done for me. But maybe for you, it's not foolproof. If you are uncertain of your outcome, first try using it on some scrap wood to see what you're up against. I used it on nominal 1x2 Hardrock Maple for a cabinet front-frame and I was very pleased with my result. I'm Four Stars, not Five, just to highlight the fact that, if you are not quite as handy, you may fail with this first time out of the box. I would buy this again for my purposes. Be sure to use fresh bits esp. if you are drilling hardwood.

It’s as accurate as you are
Tried it out freehand on some relatively straight scrap oak, making sure to be ultra-careful lining up the guidelines, and it worked great. I’m sure when I throw it in my vise it will be even better. Took less than 2 minutes to drill holes for three dowels. Strongly recommend this if you’re a weekend warrior/hobbiestEdit: man, I should’ve bought this a long time ago, just did a panel glueup and it couldn’t have gone more smoothly, thing is worth its weight in gold

Does not work as advertised. Too much slop
Don't waste money. It does not clamp the wood evenly. The holes are not centered because of this. I thought it would be a fast way for boring holes four legs instead of setting up a drill press. The holes were not centered from side to side it does not clamp evenly. Big waste of money. Probably made in China. LOL

USED PRODUCT REPACKAGED - JUNK Centering Jig
Seriously? All the inserts were well worn with VERY obvious drill marks. Appropriate bit sizes were nowhere near an acceptable tolerance of movement, and yes I even checked against unused drill bits. And the inserts were in a sealed package (not a seal from a food sealer either). More detail on the inserts below. The jig itself appears unscathed but it's not even close to center, you can see the middle (guide part) is crooked in the jig itself, the far left corner shows smaller gap vs the right side, and the close right corner shows a slightly smaller gap vs the left side. If the very center was to be used then this wouldn't be a big deal but when you use the offset holes this jig uses, the error is significant. The inserts are definitely used, and this is not machining marks from production (if you really think that it's machining marks then please refrain from whatever project you are looking into...)The 1/4" inserts are both ranging from .256 to .257, (F size bit is .257 which is normal clearance hole for 1/4-20 screw) which means the jig was used to center a 1/4" CLEARANCE HOLE. If thats what this jig is sized to then why does it say 1/4"?5/16Ranged from .321 to .325, again, clearance hole is .323 for this common screw size clearance hole.3/8Ranged from .361 to .388, that's a really big tolerance (not even close to acceptable, 7.5% difference in the limits....Clearance hole is .386No I couldn't fit a 3/8 (brand new) bit through either of these inserts for 3/8 insert.I don't know if this jig is supposed to be nominal size (1/4 = .2500) or if it's supposed to be close fit clearance holes for the common screw sizes. But either way, it's consistent and unacceptable to me.This product is trash, or quality control is non-existent.

Jig NOT accurate
Testing Jig on 7/8" wood and found it does not center holes exactly in the board thickness. Worse yet, one end of the Jig is different than the other. One end is more accurately centered on the board edge than the other. Although the differences are small they are readily apparent to the eye. Given the nature of the design, I am not sure it could ever be the same on both ends or accurately centered on a board. The center turn screw introduces a difference between both ends because essentially the threads are an angled plane so one end tightens slightly different from the other end. The differences are small but clearly visible. I won't use this product and will spend over $200 to purchase a similar product that appears to be engineered for accuracy.

Quality for a great price
This is by far the easiest doweling jig I have ever used! Nothing else at any price has come close. From the moment you take it out of the box the quality is evident, good heavy polished steel, screws that don’t bind, guides that are actually marked and standard, common sizes. I could not have asked for more of a tool at twice the price.
