This is insanely effective, however whether you feel happy using it or not is a different question.The spikes are plastic - its a really simple but effective design and these spikes easily hold their shape wherever you place them, they are however quite sharp! In my situation I was getting desperate as my cats were jumping onto kitchen counters and kept switching on my hob - YIKES!One jump on these definitely taught them to never jump up on the counter again, but its important to know it works - because it hurts to land on these! I'm personally really grateful for these fulfilling their job as it has been half a year and my cats have not tried jumping on the counters again, - my mind is at ease because it prevents potential accidents in the kitchen so I'm happy! I know some people will probably moan about how sharp these are - but I'm pretty sure that's the whole point! (pun not intended) so use with caution!

I bought this because of the many extremely destructive things my cat likes to do, shoving plants off a high shelf at 4am is the most stressful. It was either get rid of all my plants or this. It's a bit pricey for sheets of plastic but you do get a lot, they're easy to trim to size and interlock. The double sided sticky tabs aren't great. My cat can walk on the spikes (slowly) if they're on the floor so I wouldn't recommend them for blocking off an area that way, but having stuck them to the shelves I know he cant jump up onto them, or land on them from another surface. I wish I could use them to stop him jumping onto the kitchen counters: not possible unless I lined my whole counter with spikes which would render it useless for me too. Think about where you want to put them before you buy as your cat will probably be able to walk or jump over them. They are useful in some areas.

I bought this to deter my kitten from jumping on the counters but this would have killed him. The points are so sharp I even cut my own hand getting them out of the bag.Even if people are wanting to use these to deter unwanted cats in the garden I urge you to reconsider its inhumane and realistically will be more hassle when you have an injured cat stuck in your garden covered in blood

We bought a pair of velvet armchairs and unfortunately two of our four cats started spraying on them, cnot on the sides but on the actual seats. I was steam cleaning most mornings, then I got lightweight plastic sheeting to cover each chair. Stopped the spraying, but not a good look on a day to day basis. Then I put a piece of this matting on the seat of each chair. They soon cottoned on that they could no longer stand on these chairs, the spraying has stopped. If we want to sit on a chair, it's a simple process to lift the mat up and put it underneath the chair. I'm almost at the point where I might remove them and see if they've got the message, hopefully.Worst case, is another steam clean and I have to put them back down again. They've worked really well up to now, not cruel in the slightest, just a good deterrent.

They certainly repel cats and keep them off where you do not want them to go. But they are very flimsy and far to expensive for what they are. Basically a bit of thin plastic sheet with bumps in it.

The first night we laid this product there was no cat fouling. However, the next night it was back to normal and the fouling was back so unless we have a cat who enjoys walking on spikes it does not have the desired effect so I am just going to fence off the area. I feel I have just wasted my money on this product so I do not recommend it.

I put this down not knowing what to expect,whether my cat would go for the telly or not,and I was pleasantly surprised,they tried to go for it,didn't like the feel of it and went away from it. Only the other day they tried it by jumping straight onto the bit that's on the ledge of telly instead of coming from an angle like they tried to,and again,it deterred them. Brilliant! Simple,but effective.

These were bought to discourage cats from my patio. The mats themselves are quite good, however, the double side sticky pad are not easy to use. I can get them off the strip supplied, but getting the red tops off so that I can stick them down to the patio is a bit of a nightmare and so far unsuccessful.
