Beautiful Music Box
The box itself is real wood with a beautiful open carved pattern in the lid. The lid is kept closed by a magnet so it is nice and secure. You can open the lid and watch the mechanics of the music box as it operates which is fascinating. The crank is located on the bottom of the box and turns nicely. Of course this box does not play the entire song, as other reviewers have complained. I can only imagine they don't understand how music boxes work; you would need a very large cylinder to hold that many notes, and it would then be quite expensive. I can wind the crank about 8 turns of my wrist, it might be more or less. The music box plays the most recognizable portion of the "You Are My Sunshine" song, about 15 seconds long, or approximately 40 notes. It's beautiful gift and I love it.

Perfect valentines gift 🎁
Item arrived as described but the fit and finish look way better in person then the pictures on Amazon. The cutouts are clean, the finish looks even and the 18 note machine is very pretty. The box seems like it amplifies the sound which was something I was curious to hear. Most important my girlfriend loves hearts and this was a great surprise to her! Just buy it…

Weirdly made
I bought this for my wife for our 15th anniversary. You Are My Sunshine is a song we sing to each other all the time. The box was much smaller than I expected and very lightweight. I think the wood is balsa. It just has a fragile, slightly rough texture to it. The music mechanism works fine. It’s easy to wind and plays well. I’m hesitant to give it four stars because of what I see as quality issues, but my wife loves it, so I’ll keep it at four.

Lovely gift
I gifted this to my 4yo daughter. It plays a song we love: you are my sunshine. This is a beautiful gift that she finds to be magical and special. She asks me about how the pieces work and music is made. It is not too delicate that she can’t be a typical 4yo who messes with it. It isn’t going to fall apart easily, and it also isn’t heavy or clunky. I love hearing her wake up in the night after a bad dream and play her music box.
