Fiddly to attach to fitting - but worth it - read later for hack for attaching
Looking for a light that would come on at dusk in my hall, I chose this light fitting. It arrived well packed and with good fitting instructions. It is compact, unobtrusive and fits flush to the ceiling, suiting my preferences for where it was to go.The mulitstrand wiring in my house wouln't fit the push fitting of the light's connectors so I used connector block and single strand wire to install it. After pushing the block back through the ceiling the fitting went up no problem. Unfortunately it took me some time to figure this out but once I did fitting was a doddle! (Hence only 4 stars for easy to install).Once fitted, I down loaded the app and I logged into the router IP address on my PC and disabled the 5G on the router, a simple procedure that I have completed previously when connecting smart plugs. Following the instructions ,the light connected first time. The app is simple to use, and Alexa found the device no problem. I programmed the light to come on at half brightness 20 minutes before dusk, through the app and for Alexa to turn it off when I say Goodnight and an additional routine to turn it off later if I was away from home. The light is surprizingly bright when on full with several options in the white light shades from bright to warm. along with a number of colour options, all can be dimmed right down. There are a multitude of different senarios on the app from a disco setting to cool mood coloured lighting. All in all my first impressions with this light leads me to recommend it fully, although I wouldn't put it in the lounge, it's a bit too basic for that. If anything changes I will update my review.12/02/23Just bought another of these lights for the small hall that leads to my back door. Learning from previous experience I found that if I attached the bracket firmly to the ceiling then released the screws half a turn it gave "wiggle" room to attach the light itslf. I used a piece of tape looped at each end to hook over the levers to pull them and keep them out whilst fitting ad it took minutes. Connecting to the internet took a minute and Alexa found it straight away and I added it to my security routines.I run all my lights - (now 3) on half power, white light and they give plenty of light for stairs landing and both hallways where they're fitted.

Decent RGB light, low consumption and good app
Install was fairly straightforward, I had a standard ring type bathroom halogen that this was replacing and is a much smaller footprint. One thing I will say is the sliding mechanism for attaching to the ceiling is a little fiddly, I had to get both hands on either side whilst trying to apply pressure to the light so that it was snug to the ceiling and clicked into place. Please note: This unit ONLY operates on 2.4Ghz - for some broadband routers you can split out the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands so you can connect devices to that are only compatible with each, but I have a BT Hub 6 and you only have the option to disable 5Ghz - so unfortunately this is what Iāve had to do, I would say that product improvement is needed here to enable the device to connect to a 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz SSID and still make the connection over 2.4Ghz - we shouldnāt have to disable 5Ghz completely. The white light at standard full brightness out of the box is so bright! We have opted to change to a warmer white colour and lowered the brightness right down - also in this mode it barely consumes any wattage - around 2-3w which is incredible considering it was replacing a unit that used 28w. From the app you can easily change the brightness levels and saturation if you needed. All in all, a great product, one other improvement I would like to see is the speed control on Scene 4 & 5 (RGB cycling) the speed on its slowest setting is still too fast to create a relaxing effect (itās still almost disco speed!) so if the app had more control over that it would be great.I would recommend this product overall, hopefully this helps a potential purchaser.

Great, once set up near to the wifi! Newbie success...
Great quick-connect electrical connectors which worked for the heavy duty ceiling wires, as well as for my temporary plug connection (more on that later). No screwdriver needed. A mechanical quick-release is used for mounting (and re-mounting) the unit, (e.g. to the ceiling) to get easy access to the electrical connections - easier than un-screwing the whole thing. My main issue was that the instructions are absolutely right when they say that it should be near the wifi. At least for setting it up. I wasted quite a bit of time trying to get it set up in its intended location (well away from the wifi hub which we have upstairs, on the other side of the house). The porch had a wifi level of -87dB (not much signal; I have an app for measuring this on my phone) and this was not enough for set-up, which worked fine once it was next to the wifi, disconnected from the ceiling, and temporarily connected to power via a wall plug near the wifi, and a table-lamp wire with a switch built in.Having set it up, I then found that it didn't work when it was back in its intended location. Hmm. However after moving one of our wifi extenders nearer to the front door to boost the wifi signal, it worked fine.I have since used the app to change to the colour option, tried various colours (ok, not really necessary for the porch, but fun for a bit), and varied the brightness.Having had some fun, I reverted to the white setting and adjusted the white temperature (which was very cool/blue at the factory setting) to a lovely warm white.Having got it working (as a complete smart home newbie), within an hour I had also linked it to IFTTT to turn it on at sunset (link your IFTTT account to a pre-built applet in 'Smart Life'), and this worked fine!IFTTT has another applet that will turn the lamp colour to turquoise if rain is forecast - no end of possibilities!Given that the lamp is dimmable with the app, I'm thinking that I should have gone for the brighter lamp, but it is definitely bright enough for the porch.Am hoping to find a good external PIR to link to the lamp (via IFTTT or the Smartthings hub I have not yet bought) to increase the brightness when someone approaches the house. Will almost certainly buy some more.
