The real deal, not a fake
We found this "fleur de sel" in France at the Camargue swamps. It was a surprise to find it on Amazon.Com. This is the real "fleur de sel", not a fake , like so many around.

I never thought I'd have a favorite salt.
I settled on Le Saunier De Camargue Fleur De Sel Sea Salt years and years ago after trying quite a few of the competitors. It wasn't a scientific test, just what tasted the best to me, so this is totally subjective review. What I like about this particular salt is the consistency and how well it perks up the flavor of whatever you put it on. To be very specific, sprinkling this on a fresh slice of a high quality tomato takes the tomato from a 10 out of 10 to a tilt warning. Just let it sit for a little while and grind fresh black pepper on top of the salt. Combine this with other simple ingredients and you have a heavenly meal. For years I always bought the small containers that always seemed overpriced so I started buying the kilo package when it became available in the US. This size is much more reasonably priced per ounce. There was one downside to that and it was that the packaging was all cardboard and subject to getting torn apart during shipment and it did not adequately protect the salt from high humidity summers. Lately that has been addressed with the new plastic tub container, solving both issues and is also reusable.

Why Wet Salt?!
I've been using this salt for over 20 years and never have I purchased it in a plastic tub. It is wet and wet salt does not work for the food products that I'm using it for. I did gently dry the salt out on a sheet tray in the oven, but it does clump up. I ground it gently to break it up and the salt flakes now are not similar to what I've gotten inside the cardboard container. The salt is already dried in that container. This was a very disappointing purchase. Could not use it as a finishing salt. Will purchase it somewhere else in the cardboard container. I first gave this product 1 Star, but after giving it a day, I realized this is not an issue with the seller, but with the company who harvests the salt. Fleur de Sel is a fantastic salt to use in cooking/baking, I just won't be purchasing it in a plastic container again.

Depth of flavors is unparalleled
I have been using this Fleur de Sel salt for decades..it is by far the best salt one can use for cooking stews, sauces, meats, and anything that needs far more depth than table salt and/or general sea salt. It is hard to explain how good this salt tastes. It feels like you are getting trace minerals when you ingest this salt..seriously, I feel better after sprinkling this directly on rice or pasta or even eating it straight. I would consider myself a salt connoisseur and this is the holy grail of all salts..seriously it is that good. I have given this salt as a hostess gift many times and always receive thank you notes for introducing them to this culinary workhorse. Hope this helps others to try this salt..I truly think anyone that does will become hooked like everyone I know!

Smashed
Completely smashed in the bubble wrap. 100% unusable. Ugh.

It is expensive!
I always thought salt was salt. Period. This salt will disabuse you of that idea. We use it daily, from a sprinkle on the toast with olive oil to seasoning salads and other foods at the table. It brightens the flavor of anything we put it on.

The packaging needs an upgrade.
I use the salt for cooking all the time. Bought the 35 ounce container which had issues from shipping accordion to previous posts. Apparently they went to a plastic container. Mine arrived as a cardboard contained with the bottom seal partially busted open. Minimal salt spillage. I glued the bottom seam using a length of butcher twine as a support. Seams to have done the trick. It was rolled in bubble wrap - but I just think the journey is too much for the large cardboard container to arrive intact.
