i am ecstatic about this computer. Monitor picture is gorgeous!!!
So cool to be the very first reviewer here!I am ecstatic about this laptop!I am a senior citizen on SSI, and I cannot believe that in this day and age even someone under the poverty level can afford incredible technology like this, just because it is a few years old, [EDIT: I paid $314 for this computer. When I came back to the site I found they started at $999. Look around for one in the $300-350 range, you can find one if you search enough.]I first discovered the incredibleness of refurbished Dell laptops about six years ago. Searching with my husband for cheap used laptops we could afford, we visited a used-laptop store at a computer repair service. Among the various cheaper laptops were four or five Dells that were more expensive and obviously of higher quality than the rest. The owner explained that these Dells were top-of-the-line laptops that were leased to businessmen, and when the leases were up, Dell took them back, replaced them with newer ones and sold the old ones to refurbishers. Their biggest selling point was that they were tough enough to be banged around in travel. They were much heavier than regular laptops, which could matter to a college student running from class to class, but not to me. I just couldn't afford one. Till I discovered the same laptops on Amazon for much cheaper. Of course, buying online is taking much more of a chance than buying from a dealer who you know in person. But I decided to take the chance. My husband was so impressed that he got one for himself. Then two years later, we went the same route and replaced them with refurbished Dells. Now this one makes the fifth one between us, and my husband plans to get one for himself.First of all, refurbished computers are sometimes not perfect. Both of my husband's refurbished Dell laptops were perfect, but my first one had sound so quiet it couldn't be heard without headphones or speakers. My second one had a very weak battery, which the seller promptly replaced. It also had a weird bad touch mouse and I ended up getting a remote mouse. But the imperfections were things I could live with, considering the overall quality of the computer. So when I was told Windows 7 won't be supported anymore and it was more advisable to get a new laptop than put Windows 10 on the old one, I turned once again to the Dells on Amazon. This laptop turned out to be absolutely perfect, except for a hyperactive touch mouse that made pages randomly big and small, but I finally figured out how to disable that.SO -- this model, compared to previous Dell models (keeping in mind that Dells are already superior, so it is a high baseline)The picture quality of the monitor is BREATHTAKING! Literally! It's supposed to have four times the resolution of the previous monitors, and just watching simple Youtube videos of nature, we're constantly going WOW! Look at those leaves! Look at the feathers on that bird's face! The subtlety of the color, the appearance of depth. I've never seen anything like this on a laptop! It is GORGEOUS!(On the other hand, to be fair, I read in a review of this model that the colors picked up by the webcam are not true, okay for Skype but not good enough for your Youtube videos. Just quoting for the sake of information, webcam colors look fine to me. That was the only flaw cited in a detailed review.)This laptop is also much lighter in weight than the previous Dells, if weight matters to you. Yet it feels just as sturdy. In every way, this seems like a superior computer, and for just $314 (for a laptop that, new only four years ago, listed at almost $1900)The picture quality of the monitor, though, I just can't believe it. It almost looks three-dimensional and the colors are so rich and nuanced. Every time I turn it on and see that picture quality, it is "WOW" all over again. It's dazzling. I think there must have been some major advancement in monitor technology. Maybe I'm the last one to know. But when I look at my old laptop picture, it looks flat and dead by comparison. If nothing else, get this computer for the gorgeous monitor picture. It will be worth it even if you aren't lucky enough to get a perfect refurbished computer. (Be ready for a refurbished computer to have minor flaws - based on our experience, chances of getting a refurbished Dell with NO flaws is only about 60%.)BTW, I just discovered it comes with built-in voice recognition software. It also has a touch screen, and you can draw pictures with your finger. Those are some of the new programs in this computer, I know there are more I haven't discovered. And again, as a senior citizen on an extremely limited income, I am amazed at a country that makes it possible for even poor people to possess such marvels, When I was a child, you'd have to be a billionaire to do half the things I can do with this laptop -- and the other half wouldn't even have been possible. Today is Christmas Day and a good day to be thankful for blessings.

Highly Recommended
This is easily the best laptop for the price and it works like new. The it loads quickly, colors are vibrant and the keys are well responsive while the battery peaks at 100% and is slow to drain.I'd also like to thank TekRefurbs.com for being such and excellent company to work with.

Good machine
Loaded Linux Mint easily and runs it perfectly. (Erased windows. Did not try it on dual boot). It is a solid build, so much heavier than most laptops, if you are concerned about weight. The screen text is much easier to read than most laptops. Good for low or impaired vision.

The first one I bought had a totally defective keyboard so I returned it.
I liked that the keyboard was backlit. This laptop does have a 14 inch touchscreen. It is exactly what I wanted. The price is right - about a hundred dollars less than the terrible Chromebook laptop I returned. If this Dell keyboard hadn't been defective, I would been very happy with this laptop.

Call me a fan of refurb PCs
Packed well and shipped promptly this little machine works like a charm, even seems to have decent battery life. Clear screen, no visible screen defects, WiFi and BT work as expected. The refurb work includes a thin adhesive skin over the cover, palm rests, and touchpad buttons; done well, almost not noticeable. A very satisfactory purchase.

Misleading- Windows 10 Missing
I share this account under the buyers name and this is my review of the product. Windows10 was not installed. This is a refurbished computer and I am curious on how the system was tested without Windows 10. I attempted to install Windows with the USB Drive and the CD. I contacted Amazon twice who in turn relayed messages to the seller. The seller never reached out. It was past the 90 days period for a refund so I did not request one. Life interfered that I had the laptop in the box for months. However, the seller did not take the initiative to reach out and admit that Windows was not installed as advertised and the reason there were no operating system. It appears that the hard drive is bad, as well.
