Works well, no complaints
Though I primarily use this as a flat lap, I've used the faceting arm several times, and found it to be quite usable for stones over 5carat, anything under that will need a smaller dops, and it may be tricky to be adequately precise with the angles. It's perfect for my use though

Totally worth the money... with amendments
This machine is totally worth how much it costs. I am so surprised by the power behind the motor! It's never skipped or paused by any pressure applied to it. In fact, it's a little too powerful and I have to compensate for it with a lot of water and finer grit discs while faceting. This is absolutely a great beginner faceting/lapidary machine, but there are some things you should know before buying it.1) it does not come with a water drip unit. This is absolutely necessary to work on stones, so you'll need to factor that into your cost. Mine was made with parts from goodwill and home depot.2) it does not include a stop. I bought this machine having very little faceting/lapidary knowledge and didnt know the importance of this. A stop allows you to hold your stone in a fixed degree for a cut and gives you a certain amount of depth for it. Without it, theres no way to hold specific angles and you can cut multiple degrees down within microseconds if you're not careful. I use a c-clamp with squares of wood gorilla glued to it so I can more accurately choose my angles.3) it super spins! That means that even with very small drops of water, that are necessary, you'll always be in the splash zone! The little rimmed bowl that comes with it is too small and shallow for how powerful it is. As pictured, I cut a bucket that is exactly 8 3/4" and it fits snugly in the hole. Leaving half of the bottom allows me to contain a lot of the misting. Additionally, the higher sides allowed me to cut a 1/4" hole to pull my water line through and cut a slot to be able to cut my girdles...more on that...4) you cannot cut down to 90°. There is absolutely no way to get all the way down to 90° on a stone smaller than 10mm. Even with the slot that I made, and the whole unit pulled all the way to the edge, and disassembled so that it is positioned as low as possible, it's still too close that the chuck will touch the disc at 90. So I have learned to just cut my girdles at 86° because that's the closest I can get without touching stuff (often lol).5) it's super powerful...I'm repeating myself, I know. But I wanted to reiterate for another newbie incase they're in my position and buying disks and this machine. Do yourself a favor and buy 500, 600, and 1000 grit diamond laps. I find that this unit is so fast and strong that you have to use more water and cut with a finer disk to keep stones from overheating, cracking, and cutting too fast. E.g. normally you would cut a quartz with a 300 or so. Then go on to 600 to get rid of big scratches, then prepolish, then polishing lap. Then rose quartz pictured was cut with a 600 and then I went over it with a 3000 lap. I've found this to be a very fast method for cutting and prepolishing hard materials.

VERY heavy
Did NOT include fixed ability for faceting. Did not include water nozzle for wheel. Tubing too short for work ability (and dirty-glue and styrofoam particles inside). Not workable directly out of the package and the package arrived damaged with foam everywhere. Very heavy-cast iron. With all the foam floating inside the packaging - it may have gotten into the motor. I wasn't willing to take the chance - especially once I discovered the other faults.

So far seems to be well built
Nice machine. Solidly built and heavy which is nice. I was kind of leery at first it would be thin and cheap. But definitely not the case. This thing is heavy and solid. JLS

Overall not bad.
The unit as a whole isn't bad for the price. The Good:- Solid weight, keeps it stable.- Well built.- Not loud, giving a more clear distinction when cutting.- Came with everything to start. The Bad:- The manipulator... apparently this is a common issue with "cheaper" units (the ones I saw with the better ones ran $K and higher)/ Nothing to lock in the degree/ Degree had to see to set/ Had to get an extra plate of steel and washers to cut 90°'s. Other option is to hold by hand, which isn't hard or bad.- No water drip.~ As a whole, I would recommend it based on my experience with this unit.
