My new favorite game on the Wii! Don't miss this hilarious and heart-warming story with great puzzles.
I have been a serious gamer all of my life, but this is the first Paper Mario game I have played. It may have kiddie graphics and be on a Nintendo system, but it requires some brainpower to get through. The puzzles are great brain teasers, but are never unfair. There are some mazes that take a lot of exploring and can seem like filler, but completing them brings a sense of accomplishment and relief.I don't like difficult games, or games where you lose a lot of progress and have to do the same thing over and over. Super Paper Mario is not a hard game. I died and had to repeat a section twice, and there are save points before all of the major boss battles. Speaking of boss battles, they are clever and because you have four controllable heros to switch between, all with different strengths and abilities, the boss battles are fun puzzles in their own way.I usually don't like side-scrolling games, but this one is clever in its use of 3D. You can press a button and turn the 2D world into 3D to get past obstacles or see hidden pipes behind bushes, but you can only stay in 3D for a limited time. You can also point the Wiimote at the screen to reveal hidden things like doors and staircases. There is a lot of exploring and experimenting required to complete the game, but it never felt like a chore. My favorite game series of all time is The Legend of Zelda. Those games have a formula where you get a new ability and that allows you to go to a new area, where you get another new ability, and the cycle continues. Super Paper Mario has that same feeling, and all of the new tools you get in the form of abilities, heroes, and companions, are all clever and interesting.I wasn't expecting much of a story from a Mario game, but there is one here. I won't spoil it here, but the "Mario has to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser" is turned on its head when a new bad-guy is introduced, and Bowser helps Mario and the Princess. There are subplots and love stories and more to uncover, and it is all done spectacularly. This is one of the funniest games I have ever played too.Overall, I highly recommend this game to any adults or kids that want a funny game with a great story and puzzles that are just the right amount of difficult. You will not be disappointed in this 20-hour game. 5/5 stars. If you found this review helpful, please show some love by clicking the "Yes" button below. If not, click โNoโ. So Happy To Have This Game Back
The title of my review speaks for itself. I've had to replace this game so many times due to it getting burnt out and scratched beyond repair. This is BY FAR the GREATEST game in the Paper Mario series. I'm actually grateful I'm still able to play it due to an issue with my gamepad. My guess is it's from not playing my Wii U for so long. There's a small crack within the screen and only half of the picture shows on my gamepad. I'm also incredibly grateful that it was still available for purchase at a decent price. Anyways, I'm so grateful I'm able to play it with just my tv, and get lost in this amazing game again! Why it isn't on the Switch yet is a mystery to me.

Hi-technical!!
Love the zany winking at the camera humor here. It's full of self referential, parody. It even makes the bold move of mocking a strong portion of the fan base with a certain "hi-technical" lizard. But underneath all that lies a pretty good problem solving Game with slight RPG elements. It borrows a page from the Metroid playbook in that it gives you a toolbox of tools to solve problems in the form of companions named Pixels as well as character specific abilities in the cadre of teammates you assemble. On top of this it contains traditional Mario platformer elements such as stomping on goombas etc... By the way during the very start of the game a dialogue occurs where Mario is asked to save the day, and you can actually respond "nah I don't feel like it" which I found so amusing I continued to select this option even after being re-asked two more times. Well guess what, three being a sort of magic number, the game over screen appears. No big deal right? Wrong, you have to sit through the 8 minute opening sequence again with no option to skip it. Don't be an jerk like me just accept when They ask you to save the day.

Not the original Wii plastic case
The games case is different from the original Wii case, making it kinda weird to close all the ways, but itโs not that big of a deal personally. The game is brand new like said with absolutely zero scratches with the manual and everything; I am satisfied. ๐

What I love: game arrived in true like new condition with everything but the plastic wrap. Graphics are vibrant, easy to see and pretty crisp for being a wii 2D game. I like the "flip" in to 3D aspect, it gives it a fresh feel for this classic side scroller style. The pixl side kicks are a neat add as they give Mario different abilities. I'm loving the flashlight feature for the pixls, this lets the player highlight hidden items and also allows the player to click on items/characters and learn about them. This is one of the only Wii motions used in the game, the other being "shake" to escape certain enemies. What I could do without: The intro is so long, about 15 min and can't be skipped. ALSO, everyone talks and they do love to tell stories, many of them pointless. It's set up like a storybook so each character has a part. It is helpful when the player needs a tip which I'm guessing is more for children. This part of the game makes me feel like I'm too old to be playing it. I also wish this had a two player option as there's no reason that couldn't work for this game.Other than these few gripes I love it. Definitely worth the $20. I wouldn't pay more than that though. Anyone who loved Super Mario and wants a new adventure with a twist is sure to like it.
