This hot-sway cage is excellent! I'm using these for an Unraid server that doubles as a gaming rig so it's in the same room as I am. The fan is a bit for my tastes, and it is a non-standard fan that doesn't use the connectors for computer fans ( if i'm not mistaken is uses the same connectors as servos.) I had to get creative by completed removing the fan from the housing, and screwing a pwm fan onto the back of the fan grill. This allows me to use a larger standard fan and is much quieter. The temperature did go up by a few degrees, however they are still well within safe operation ranges.

I did end up replacing the fan on the back which was reasonably easy. Most people probably won't care about the noise though and the rest of this cage seems pretty well designed. One gripe I have is that the SATA Power Connectors are stacked which can prove to be difficult if you have L shaped power connectors. Can be fixed if you get some extensions or if your power supply has flat power connectors. All in all, great product which I would recommend.

No QA on the enclosure Doors..
This is the 6th iStarUSA drive cage I've purchased in the last 4 months. Of all the cages I have tried, for some reason iStarUSA DOMINATES drive cages. (As long as it is this model, the 4-drive, or 3-drive model only). I needed this one to complete a rushed custom server build and assumed it would be like the rest. The doors on this product are lacking a bit of QA bc they have way too much vertical movement when trying to close them and they dont just close with a snap like the others do. I have to manually guide them, and lift the latch as I lock the door closed. This was the first cage that didnt have the iStarUSA "QA" sticker inside the cage too, so I can assume that is the reason for poor door functionality. I didnt have time nor the patience to deal with an RMA back to the seller bc, like I said, this was a rushed project. But normally, these are the only drive cage brand and model that I will buy. I got the short stick this last time though, hopefully you won't.

3 bays into 5 hard drive slots works great for NAS devices and Severs1 note if you plan to use all 5 hard dives make sure you do not use the same rail to power both sata power ports if you do you will only be able to use 4 bays not the 5th (tested with WD Red 4,6TB drives) but works fine if not on same rail of power supply with all 5 bays

Minor Qibble on The Color. Otherwise Great Product.
The red anodizing is a bit too red. Like a fire engine. I would have preferred a little more muted red. Otherwise the form fit and function is great.

I used this for an UnRaid setup. It works well. I got them because of the tray-less design. The only caution is that I suggest you lock the tray with the disk because the latch might open if you accidentally bump it. I don't think it unplugs the disk.

it's been working nicely.
Fan is a bit noisy for my liking, but other than that, it's been working nicely.

Great for a DIY NAS box with LSI 9260-8i LSI00202 card (or any hardware raid).
I put these in a 4u chassis and attached to a LSI 9260-8i LSI00202 card for a nice cheap 4u NAS storage box. I've had no issues with them and get a full 2gb/s of read/write performance via 2 separte gigabit nics (that's all I need).
