Has anyone tried making marmalade with this? Is there a recipe for it in the book? Thank you.

I am afraid I was very disappointed with this machine, you need at leat 50 minutes to get jam to boil and then set, and this machine will not do that long, you could pre prep it all and cook it for 30 minutes and do the rest of it in a deep pan on the cooker stirring all the time., till you get to setting point which you will know by dropping a bit it on a cold saucer. Recipes for marmalade well we all have our own! I use 6 pink grapefuit , 8 oranges , all skinned, no pith or outside skin, just fruit, 3 star annise , pinch of ginger, 800 grams preserving sugar, ad nearly I pt water, its basic but delicious. Look on your i phone for more ideas, BBCfood is excellent. Good luck! CM

Can you make chutneys in this machine

yes you can make chutneys, but a good chutney has to really boil to make it set, and this machine will not boil jams and chutney hard, I was rather disappointed.

Glad I Bought It

I made some Damson jam with this machine and was very pleased with the outcome.You have to follow the recipe correctly to get the right results.If you like large bits of fruit in your jam this might not work, it produces a smooth jam as the fruit is chop up, I used my food processor for this, quite finely. I made 2 lots of jam and both batches were good. It was hassle free and the best bit no burnt pan at the end! Very easy to clean.

Categorically cannot be used to make jam

This item is basically a pan that simmers fruit and sugar for about half an hour while stirring it. Making proper jam requires that the excess water be boiled off to thicken the jam to the desired consistency- something that this device isn't capable of doing. It can make stewed fruit, but that's it. If you want to make jam you need to use a saucepan on the hob for about an hour. These things are just ineffective gimmicks.

Nasty smell to my jam

What a waste money and of fruit and sugar as the jam has a strong, nasty smell of plastic from the stirrer despite washing everything before use.

No spare parts can be found.

Good product but cannot find spare lid knob assembly. Broken off now stuck with a pot I can’t use safely.
