Best air conditioner I ever bought
The media could not be loaded. Last year I moved my bedroom tv to the other side of the room. The wall it's mounted on is my son's room on the other side. As it started getting hot outside I put my old AC in the window and immediately realized that wasn't going to work. My AC was really loud which meant I had to raise the volume on the television and risk waking up my son at night. "Well that ain't good LOL." So I decided to look for a qiueter air conditioner.I started shopping by looking into one of those U shaped air conditioners. They're really nice but they require a support bracket to hold the body of the unit outside of the window. My room is on the 2nd floor right above the porch and my windows are right above the porch roof line. Which means there's not enough space below the outside window sill to properly install the support. So I looked into other AC's that claim to be "ultra quiet." I'm so glad I decided to give this model a go.Where do I start describing this bad boy. Well first and foremost it's RIDICULOUSLY QUIET! I downloaded a decible app on my phone to test how quiet it is and it runs under 40db from 3 feet away. That's quiet. It's very well designed to. The vents are slanted upwards which means it blows upward and not straight at you. I'm not a big fan of cold air blowing directly at me so kudos to GE. The install was super easy but it is pretty heavy for being a 6,000BTU (6,150BTU to be exact) unit. The face comes out further than most AC's do. It's about 8 inches past the window sill but it looks really good. And to add icing to the top of the cake this is a smart air conditioner. Not only does it connect to your smartphone it's also voice controlled through Alexa and Google. Admittedly the voice control has a few kinks that could be worked out but it doesn't bother me. I just use the remote or the app. A really nice feature on the app is that it tells you exactly how much power is being used and tracks it daily.Hands down this AC is worth every penny!

Very Quiet, Until It Isn't - GE customer relations is garbage. I hope yours just works.
The media could not be loaded. This AC unit works pretty well as far as cooling. Most of the time it's whisper quiet. Until it comes on full blast. Then it starts making this loud buzzing noise that doesn't seem like it should be making. As it's gearing up it gets a little louder then out of nowhere this buzzing sound. I've tried adjusting its mounting but it seems to be coming from inside the unit.*Update*My experience with GE has been abysmal. I spent $600 on a window AC unit specifically because it is quiet. As soon as summer started in Florida this thing sounds like a jet engine. So I contact customer support because I’ve only owned it for just over 3 months so it’s still under warranty. They send out a tech who can’t fix it. So customer relations sends me 2 good will certificates totaling approximately $600. Issued on 4/19/23. We are in the middle of moving to New York so I wait a few weeks until we are settled and call to request a change of address for the certificates. I don’t hear anything for 2 weeks so I call again. I’m told they are on their way. 2 more weeks, I call again. They tell me a supervisor will contact me. 2 more weeks, I call again and I’m told the original customer service person canceled my service request so the change of address request never notified the correct team. She starts a new request. 2 more weeks and I check the status online. The last customer service person, while very helpful, set up the new request for only half of what I paid. I call again and inform the customer service person what is going on. By this point the certificates have expired. She makes the necessary corrections and send out 2 new certificates with new expiration dates. She then informs me that they will not extend the date again. Which was annoying for many reasons but I didn’t argue. I finally receive the correct certificates, buy and AC, and return the receipt. I called again 2 weeks after mailing everything back to verify they have been received. The first customer service person tells me that they can only see one of the certificates. I’m transferred to 3 different people before the last person tells me that she can see that both, have in fact, been received. A claim that I am rather dubious of but I suppose we will see. This was on 8/29. We are now closing in on the 5th month since this started. I'll update when something happens.

Great little quiet A/C
I teach online courses and needed to keep my office cool while not adding a lot of noise. The unit works well at keeping my office comfortable while being fairly quiet. The compressor is pretty quiet. It does make a bit of an annoying clunk when the compressor starts. Otherwise, most of the noise seems to come from the fan. In quiet mode, it appears to just run the fan at low speed. The wifi functionality isn’t all that. The HomeKit integration does let me start, stop, and set the temp from anywhere, but that’s all. I wish that would let me control the fan. The GE app crashes a lot. It allows you to set routines based on your location and schedules. At least it does when it isn’t crashing. It also reports energy usage of the unit. Still no fan control, though. The remote is excellent. Full control of all functions is available via the remote and the remote also displays the temperature and fan settings.Overall, I’m quite satisfied. It’s quiet and let’s me do my work in comfort. It looks nice, too. If you need a quiet window unit, this is a good fit.
