Hubert's Hair-Raising Adventure (Sandpiper books)

Brought this as I had it when I was little and it equally delights my grandchildren. The story is humourous and the illustrations enhance the scene. The tempo, flow and language set in poetry form carried along the adventure holding my grandchildren in wrapped attention, laughing out loud at both description and image. It is a brilliant book, just as a story but also as an introduction to how words can create so much more without losing the joy of a really good tale.It also gives great opportunity for children to express or talk about so many things either through the illustrations or the words.I have not put an age really it is ageless I still love it and all ages will.

This is fun and well illustrated. I bought it for a dear friend of mine who is 4 and a half. It's been read at bedtime multiple times--the grown-ups like it. Bill Peet has a great sense of humour and a nice touch with a coloured pencil. I recommend.

This is a fantastic book, much loved by my daughter.

The copy of this book which I read to my young children is now falling apart from what must be hundreds of readings. I dug it out of the loft and am now reading it to their children, who were completely captivated, so another copy is now a definite necessity!
