As good as they say
What more can be said? If you know, you know. If you don’t, treat yourself. It is the best of its kind. It will either enhance your work, or you won’t notice a difference. Either way, you have nothing to lose, but potentially a lot to gain. A great brush, which this most certainly is, holds the right mint of water, holds its shape, and each bristle works in harmony with the whole. You gain control and precision, which will likely increase confidence. Combine it with a good watercolor paper like an arches watercolor block, and you FEEL everything. The tooth of the paper, the way the brush moves and distributes water and color. You feel the creation. Now this can be said for any brush, but the best brushes amplify the sensory aspect tremendously. I believe it helps the artist become more connected to the piece they are creating. That beautiful fusion where artist and piece harmonize. 100/100

The best watercolor brush available
If you want a professional brush that will hold it's point, this is it.Have used these since the 80s--and still have 'em.Yes, after 40 some years they will lose their point, but are not unusable.Buy one of these and use it for 20 years instead of buying 20 cheap brushes. For ink, watercolor, gauche--would not use for acrylics unless they are liquid.Could also use for thinned oils, but it will wear out faster.

Like a used toothbrush
This brush did not make smooth or elegant strokes. The tip was not at all pointed or uniformly curved and some of the hairs stick out wonky and need to be cut. This brush is the equivalent of cheap no-brand student grade brushes from fly-by-night Amazon sellers. I tried to like and learn this brush but ultimately just hated it (and hated it from the very first use), and I’m very annoyed that I gave it a chance and missed the return window for this VERY EXPENSIVE LACKLUSTER brush. Stay away from W&N brushes…not my only “off” purchase from this brand. Stick with the paints only.

This brush is my favorite
This brush has been a great purchase. The tip is very fine and does not split, holds enough water and the pieces done with it have been very easy because of the brush. I cannot say the same for the number 3 and 2 that I ordered from the same vendor. These last two brushes split and hardly hold the tip. Very difficult to work with. However, I highly recommend the number 5 for the price and the quality that I got.

Best sable out there?
This is the second one I bought. The first had a chunk missing and didn’t point. This one points but is a bit smaller than the first and both run small for the size five. I like the brushes but I can’t rave about them which is what I really wanted to do. People talk about how a good sable can really up your game but I can’t say it made much difference over some black velvet and Princeton synthetics. Not like the difference that moving from student grade to pro grade paints make anyways! Wish I had an extra k to try a large one out but I think I’ll save the coins I have for now
