Metal Earth 3D Model Kits Marvel Avengers Set of 2 Iron Man and War Machine

These kits are great, but not for the novice. Tons of curvature and organic shapes, means you'll need your fingers and mandrels more than you'll need pliers or hand tools. The two pieces are not simply remakes of each other. The pieces and the construction are mostly unique between them. One sad aspect of Iron Man is whereas the gold parts seemed to be actually anodized, the red parts are just coated. The coating adds a thickness that seems to be accounted for by making the metal thinner (not a bonus) and that coating is very easy to peel off - especially at the tabs after you bend them. Still, these are incredible and have been a very fun and challenging build.

My teenage son enjoyed putting these together. They are not simple, and take some patience. Once together, they look amazing, and are surprisingly sturdy. I don't think the photos do them justice.

These two were among the hardest to put together, and I've done quite a few Metal Earth Models. Definitely expert level. A good jewelry plier set, cutters, and a lot of patience are required. Not something I would buy for a kid.

Metal Earth does such a great job with these models. The level of detail is superb. The only complaint would be that it's easy to scratch the red while building Iron Man even when you are careful. That said, the models are truly amazing when finished.

There seems to be some kind of design/manufacturing flaw in a couple of the metal sheets for the Iron Man set. The gold parts are very brittle and I've had a few of them snap on me during initial bending. One of the red metal sheets in my set had a couple pieces snap on the fold lines as well. I tried to use glue to hold the pieces together, but it's not working out so well. I'll probably have to get a new kit to make a displayable model :/

I give 5 stars for the following reasons:- This is a high quality stainless steel puzzle.- It is well designed. Comes with step by step instructions.- It is very challenging to build. Be patient.

This one was definitely challenging due to the size of the pieces. Its about the size of a GI Joe once complete. This on assembles from the feet and up. I built war machine first to get ready for Iron Man. Iron Mans hands were a little tricky trying to cup them to fit together and inserting the hand pieces were umm tiny! But once everything is shaped the hands with the open fingers give it that extra detail versus having a kung fu grip like war machine. It doesn't make war machine less detailed. This one was a fun one and I recommend it for more experienced builders...

I bought one for my 25 year old son and one for my 30 year old son in law with an engineering degree and after great effort and time spent it was quite impossible to complete.
