Connected to a good shop vacuum it can make grinding cement almost just free
This does shroud combined with the Angle grinder works unbelievable I used it to extract thin set after ceramic tile removal. It did a great job. Connected to a strong shop that the seal was unbelievable. There was almost no dust.!!

Works great! No dust, and it fits my DEW402
Yes it’s a little pricey, but it also works. Spend the money on quality and skip the dust clouds inferior dust shrouds allow to escape. This dust shroud installs quick and easy, yes even on my DWE402 (which others have seemed to struggle with). Only complaint I have is that I wish the shroud had a universal adapter included for various vacuum hose sizes, but duct tape solves that in a pinch. Tremendous suction with almost no noticeable dust. The sliding guard allows you to get within 3/4” from any straight wall your grinding next to (note: that creates an opening, there will be some dust kicked out, just keep as tight to the wall as you can). Been grinding thinset daily for 2+ weeks, this is rock solid and still working like new.

Works with DWE402 Grinder
Despite what other reviews say this shroud works with the Dewalt DWE402 grinder. The box specifically says it is compatible with all grinders beginning with model numbers DWE4 and D28. Getting this attached to the grinder can be a pain until you figure out that you need to rotate it just right so the retaining ridges fit into recesses on the grinder collar. Once you do that you can rotate it to the desired position. When attached correctly this unit is firmly attached to the grinder. The clamping screw is just used to keep the shroud from rotating. If you are using it to hold the shroud to the grinder you do not have the shroud on correctly. The other thing I discovered was I had to buy the Dewalt diamond cup grinder to get the correct depth relationship between the shroud and the grinding wheel. Once I did that I was able to level off a large amount of self leveling compound with minimal dust. For dust collection I would have rated this 5 stars but because of the poor instructions for putting the unit on the grinder and the fact that the vacuum hose connector does not fit a standard hose I dropped one star.

OMG no dust at all !!
Worked fantastic for me. Used it on a dwe402.Looks like it will work with any DeWalt grinder that has the nose portion that a guard would go around that has the notches around it and the groove ring towards the end. The guard sits in this groove, I had to clock It to line up the notches, it slides on then pops into the groove and clock it again to lock it and tighten the screw clamp down. Just like the guard the grinder came with. I used the commonly bought DeWalt concrete grinder disc with this, installed on the grinder with the spacer still in on the back . At first use you're going to think that the guard is too tall. It isn't. Push down and you will actually feel the suction suck it down some and then apply light pressure and you're grinding away, dust free. I did not even have to use a fan to direct dust around or even close doors or hang plastic. There was simply no dust. The yellow part of the guard can unlock and slide to one side so you can grind against a flat surface , like if you need to grind the floor some by a wall. I was weary of the price at first , but I would repurchase in a heartbeat. If this one breaks at some point, I wouldn't hesitate to replace it for future use.I used this with a large rigid shop vac and the DeWalt quick connect adapter and the DeWalt to shopvac adapter.

Doesn't Fit 4.5 Inch Dewalt Grinder
So I need to grind paint off my basement floor, so I need a diamond cup wheel, a good angle grinder and a dust shroud. Sure enough, Dewalt offers all of these things. However, when these items arrive, the 4 inch diamond cup recommended to go with this angle grinder seems pretty shallow., though I'm sure a standard size. After some manipulating, the dust shroud goes onto the angle grinder but, for some inexplicable reason, it won't go the last 1/4 inch to the tool. End result, the cup wheel sits ABOVE the edge of the dust shroud. The DEWALT dust shroud is too deep for the DEWALT angle grinder and DEWALT diamond cup, despite its advertisement that it will fit all Dewalt angle grinders. Sure, it fits, but not if you want to grind anything with a diamond cup. Add to that, that the stupid exit port on the dust shroud doesn't fit a standard Shop Vac or likely any other vacuum hose. So, to address this, I bought the Dewalt adapter. It doesn't "adapt" to anything. It fits the shroud but you have to cut off the end of your shop vac hose and stick it in the adapter. Total waste of time and money. Just stuck my shop vac hose into the shroud and duct taped it. Total waste of money. So, for the important part, getting this rigged contraption that cost me north of $200 with one piece that I cannot even use, to actually grind something, SUCCESS, it WILL in fact grind a floor. HOWEVER, you have to use both hands and all your body weight to press the angle grinder down onto the ground so the wheel touches it (you have to use all that weight to get the wheel down below the bristles and shroud edge which otherwise would make the wheel float almost a half inch above the ground surface. So, using ALL MY MIGHT, I was able to grind about 10 square feet before I was completely exhausted from the effort. Not how this dumb thing is supposed to work, I'm sure. Total waste of $75. Have not had much experience with Dewalt, but I am not eager to go back to them for other items. Angle grinder functions okay but its super heavy and hard to manipulate. Whatever. IF you are able to use all this physical effort, the dust shroud otherwise seems to function. It just doesn't fit a DEWALT 4.5 inch angle grinder in terms of depth, requiring extreme efforts to make it function. Smarter people (smarter than I) probably would just return this.
