Is it really accurate?
I used the gauge to measure 3 different cables and the gauge initially appeared to be off every time. I striped off the insulation and measured using the slot. I wanted to check the gauge of ethernet cable. Two different cables were advertised to be 24 AWG and each measured 25 using this gauge. A third ethernet cable was supposed to be 23 AWG and it measured 24 on this gauge. So I googled 24 AWG and it is 0.0220 inches. Well 25 in this gauge is 0.0219 inches so the wire just barely fit through the slot as 0.0220 is bigger than 0.0219. A feeler gauge I have at .021 inches went into the 25 slot on this gauge OK as it should since 0.021 is smaller than 0.0219. So the gauge is accurate but it is not labeled to measure AWG, which is what I hoped I was getting. You'll have to look elsewhere for a convenient AWG gauge.23 AWG is supposed to be 0.0226 inches and 24 on this gauge is 0.0250 inches. So yeah the 23 AWG would easily fit into the 24 slot but not into the 25 slot (0.0219 inches).
