I love all of the types of noodles for variety and keeping a low carb lifestyle.

First off... when prepared correctly, shirataki noodles are great!But, you DO have to prepare them correctly. Just rinsing them like it says on the packaging isn't sufficient. They take on the consistency of snot when you try to add them to a stir fry or soup. The best method I've found is to drain, rinse in cold water, then boil them for about three minutes, drain, and cook in a dry pan on medium-high heat for 7 to 8 minutes before adding them to whatever dish you're making. This keeps them firm and a little chewy, more like traditional pasta.Also... if you've never eaten them, before, start with small portions. I made the mistake of eating an entire packet (2 servings) in one sitting as soon as I got them and ended up with a terrible stomachache a few hours later. Apparently this is a common issue with shirataki noodles because they're basically just fiber and water, and the advice generally offered is to not eat too much at once.

I have read that some Konjac products have a nasty smell when you open them, this brand does not smell bad at all.I still do the rinse, boil and fry steps recommended by some, the frying in the frying pan is key, to get the texture closer to that of regular pasta, also by frying them, they dry up a bit, which means they will soak up the flavor of whatever sauce you put on them, if they are already saturated with water, they do not absorb the taste of anything.Anyway I think this is a good deal.

So I have to be fair here. I depend heavily on reviews. And want to be total fair and open. Truing them straight out if the pan and being hot they were bad… but I decided to try them again after they cooled. After sitting a bit I will say these noodles were basically what I would compare to a spaghetti noodle that needed say 4 to 6 mins….. I’m going to give them another shot. Tweak the process. I will be back.

Variability in product quality. Our last shipment of the Hethstia Konjak noodles we received; the noodles were not the same as we have received in previous Amazon Hethstia orders. The recent shipment of noodles did not seem to have the volume and were very very chewy. We have the product on subscription and will give it one more try. Generally, we very much enjoy the product.

This pasta is not ready to eat straight from the package. But, when you follow the directions and add a little extra seasoning, it certainly suffices for light pasta. Rating: 4 star.

I heard a lot of reviews for many konjac noodles where people were complaining about a fishy smell. My assumption was that those people were either too dumb to wash the noodles. However, with these noodles, they're stored in citric acid, not lime, so I don't think there was ever a chance for them to smell fishy in the first place.Overall, they were exactly what I expected, somewhat flavorless conveyors of sauce. I will likely be purchasing the noodle variants again.
