Ah yes, THE preferred Bible text at last
This is (almost) precisely the Book of books I was looking for. Chosen after a good deal of searching, it has great font size, a text unencumbered by the postulations of man, limited but useful cross-references in appropriate place (end of verse) pointing to similar context, and a reasonable concordance aiding in location of other uses of the word. In addition, it points to some of the textual differences between the various manuscript types. It is also humble enough not to bother trying to tell us where the paragraphing starts and ends through use of the mechanism of "boldfacing" particular verse numbers, or laying before us an unfortunate 'paragraph formatting.'A text one can simply pick up, and (for the most part) let Yahweh Elohim do the talking.I will continue looking, as two (2) more things would be helpful:1. Elimination of the 'red lettering" for what Jesus said. He being God, and we all understanding the entire text is spoken by God, it should be unnecessary to make stand out particular things our God had to say to us.2. Elimination of the sub-headings within the text. Though they speak to part of the content of the subsequent verses, which is undoubtedly helpful in a way, they can also focus our attention away from what our Father wants us to take away from the passage on any given read of it, as the Word is taken in again, for application by the Spirit. (In other words, the sub-headings can be both a help, and a distraction. We mst guard against the latter.)To a degree, I would also prefer a text without verse numbers, as these are man's additions to God's presentation to us as well.NOTE TO THE READER OF THIS REVIEW:The above "also useful" things are applicable only to me, and to the particular Book of books I'm on the hunt for at present. Being of advanced age, sufficient Biblical texts and other books of every flavor and brew are on hand to fill up to overflowing the possession of man's encumbrances upon God's revelation. Having eaten of their delicacies sufficiently, I seek now truly Sola Scriptura for my daily encounters with God, letting Him be my source of understanding as I compare Scripture with Scripture for truth, and other people's works for their fidelity to it..This NKJV End-of-verse Personal Size Large Print Reference Bible is tremendous for the purposes for which it has been sent forth, and can't really be recommended highly enough.

Excellent edition at a great price; 6 stars
I bought both this black one and the dark purple embossed one for gifts and for my own use. These are excellent Bibles and such an excellent value for the quality. The print is large and easy to read with good spacing between the lines. There is line matching so the reverse doesn't show through, and the Bible lies open easily at any location. It has two nice satin ribbons and has edge gilding. It includes some references, a concordance, and maps. These are features that are like those in very expensively bound Bibles (Allan and Schyler), of which I also have several. I'd be satisfied with having only this edition, though, as it's very easy to read and use, and I'm using mine a lot. Overall, especially for the price, it's the best edition I've found, and I've looked at many and own quite a few. I hope Nelson always keeps making this edition. The New King James Version translation is a well recognized, mainstream translation in modern but not dumbed-down English that has been used for decades. It's my overall favorite translation of the Bible. (I also like the KJV, ESV, and NASB-95.) This translation is a more literal, word for word translation (which I much prefer) than a thought for thought one. It retains the beautiful language and accuracy of the KJV but in more modern English. (No "-eth" suffiixes, "you" instead of "thou," etc. The meanings have not changed.)You can't go wrong with this edition; great print features and of course the content is what is most valuable.

Per. Size Lg. Pr. Ref. Leathersoft
This is the #1 selling NKJV layout right now and for good reason. The size is a happy medium. The print is a generous 10.5pt. It has a moderate set of references and footnotes. It also comes in a variety of covers, from Leathersoft to Premier Collection goatskin. All good reasons to own one.Potential downsides?1.) You might prefer paragraph layout. Verse-by-verse is not ideal for longer reading. I personally prefer the other two Per. Size Lg. Pr. Ref. Bibles pictured because they're paragraph formatted. (The Nelson is ISBN 9780785291602; the Holman is out of print.)2.) You might want more (or less) references than can fit in this end-of-verse reference system.3.) You might want the full set of translation notes. If you like v-b-v and want the fullest set of references and translation notes, you consider the single-column v-b-v (ISBN 9781400335268). It's also very portable, though the print is a bit smaller.
