Delicious Junk Food
Nisekoi, Vol. 13 starts off at the festival. All the girls are wearing their kimonos, but Haru, Kosaki's little sister, has gotten separated from the rest. Fortunately, she finds Raku, but unfortunately, he's lost, too. They spend much of the festival together before finally bumping into the others. Haru finds out that Raku really is the boy she's in love with, but unfortunately, her sister is in love with him, too. Haru gives Raku the most mixed of signals. Then Paula is back into the picture, where she eats a love drug. Fortunately, the person she falls in love with is not Raku. The message, like always, is that if you're a really nice guy, every girl in school will fall in love with you. Everyone's in love with Raku in this harem romance manga. Reading Nisekoi is like eating junk food. You know you should be consuming something better, but you just can't help it. I know that the series doesn't pick up until Vol. 15 or so, and a lot of people have said you can skip some of these volumes, but this one I wouldn't skip. It's good, the stories are neat, and although the characters and situations don't develop much, the volume provides depth to the characters. ****1/2

Bought wrong language.
Thought it was a great deal but lack of observation caused the mistake of buying the Italian edition and buying one for some reason in English is expensive.

~4/5From the end of the last volume, we get an interesting development from Haru. Finding out that Raku and Chitoge are fake dating, her feelings change regarding him. She forces herself to rethink her previous judgments, and realizes that her sister actually has a chance with him now. Of course, her crush on him starts becoming even more apparent, but I do like that she learns to trust what he says because of this. She actually relents to trusting him more now that she understands. There are a couple comedic chapters after this, where another badly-tested drug is passed around, and one where Marika forces Raku to pretend to be her boyfriend, and one where Chitoge tries cooking something edible for Raku. But the main plot line is when Ruri is forced to visit her “dying” (or just dying) grandfather, and ends up taking Raku pretending to be her boyfriend, and Shu, with her. This is a development in seeing Ruri in a new light, and I like her, but it’s also a bit sad. It explains her relationship with Shu more, though.A good volume overall. Will be reading the next one soon.[More of my reviews are available on my blog, Geeky Reading, to which there's a link on my profile.]
