Entertaining, Easy & Challenging mostly load's of Exciting Fun!
First let me say I got this for my grandsons 6th birthday for us to play. I know it says it's for an "older" crowd but he's into all things that light up, glow in the dark, neon games & blacklight effects so we had to give this one a try. I'm so glad we did because I've been beat every night by this child at this game since the very first time we played. So yes, the little ones can play this & are really good at it because of their little fingers. It also makes for a good reason to do a bunch of squealing & screaming jumping up & down followed by laughter too! That's always fun.About the game itself:It was very heavy in the box, I was extremely surprised at how heavy & solid it felt. Upon opening you find the game platform with the lighting in it centered snugly in a piece of black foam with half of the game cubes snugly stored on one side & the other half on the other side in the black foam.To play: you want a sturdy stable table or counter to play on. A shaky or wobbly playing area is not going to work out well for you.Take the lighting platform & place it in the center of the playing area. Place your first row of the rectangle cube pieces flat down on top of the lighting platform in the center of the platform.Stack all the rectangle cube pieces in rows of 3 on top of each other going in opposite alternating directions. (Example: Row 1- goes east to west. Row 2- goes north to south. Row 3- east to west, etc)Note; for the younger players to make it a little easier & less intimidating at first, you don't have to use all of the cube pieces. You can get by with stacking only half or three quarters of the cube pieces. This makes it not as tall & a little easier for the smaller children to play.Once you have your pieces stacked, make sure to even up all four sides. That's very important. On the side of the lighting platform is the on switch for the lights. You have 3 options to choose from & each option is what decides which way/game you're going to play.Option 1: Traffic lightsPlays just like it sounds. When the light is green you have to slide out 1 cube & place it back on the top. When the light turns Red you cannot be touching any cubes at all. You have to wait until the light turns green again. If you "run the red light" & get busted by another player, your fine is having to remove 2 cubes & place them on top. Oh, all while trying not to wreck & have the cube Tower come crashing to the ground. Did I mention you can only use 1 hand? Yep that's right! It's against the law (rules) to use your other hand to help you remove your cube or help hold the Tower or other cubes in place. You have to do all the driving with just one hand only.Just like real traffic lights it goes from green to yellow to red. So you do have the yellow warning to tell you that red is coming but... You can't depend on the timing to be the same every time. It might stay on green for 10 seconds yellow 8 seconds & red 6 seconds one time but the next time it will be green 8 sec yellow 3 sec red 10 sec & you're busted by the red light player police having to pull out 2 cubes instead of just 1. So be carefulOption 2: Mellow ModeThis option allows you to play any way you want & at your own pace. The lights will slowly cycle through all the colors & is actually quite relaxing & fun. You still play with the same concept of removing one cube with only one hand & placing it on the top without causing the tower to collapse. You don't have the intensity of the red light green light BUSTED rules to it like option 1. You can also create your own rules & game in this mode if you want.(We actually prefer this option unless the little guy is feeling spunky & just wants to whoop the old folks quickly, then we'll play traffic mode & listen to him squeal & scream & I'll need my blood pressure meds afterwards. lol)Option 3: Psychedelic ModeWARNING ⚠️ if you have any seizure disorder or if bright rapid flashing lights bother you, Do Not Play in this setting! ⚠️This option we have not been able to play due to the extreme flashing of the bright lights. It just takes all of the colors & flashes them really fast. For us older folks wearing glasses it's impossible to see & play. Even the 6 year old admitted he didn't like it cause it flashed to fast. He really wanted it to work out though & gave it a good try, several times.Overall the game is extremely fun & once you figure out the tricks to playing it can last about 15-30 minutes a round (a round is until the tower falls & you have to stack the cubes again). The lights are very bright & resonate all the way up to the top just as bright no matter how high you get to build it. We've gotten pretty good at playing so we've been able to build it really surprisingly tall.Cons:I don't have many cons but the cubes do start to show their battle scars from all the tumbling they take from crashing down on each other & on other hard surface like the lighting platform, table, countertops & floor. The outer edges of the cubes WILL get chips. These are made of a solid epoxy resin I believe & though the edges have been slightly rounded to help prevent chipping I think, the still do it. These chips are small enough that we haven't actually seen the pieces that have chipped off so they don't seem to be a danger yet but they could be if larger & if you have wee small children or babies and for pets. We have dogs but like I said we haven't seen any of the pieces that have broken off. We've only seen the chips on multiple cubes that have been damaged during play. I would estimate that 40-55% of the cubes have received these minor chips on the outer edge as a direct result of playing the game when the tower tumbles & the cubes crash down on each other. So far all of the chips are minor enough to not affect playing as far as we can tell but a larger chip could cause the cube to be damaged enough that it would not be able to be used in play. They do not include any extra cubes. You would be able to still play if you had a cube too damaged to use but you would have to remove an entire row (3 cubes total) from the game at the start. That's the ONLY con we have regarding the game, how it's made or how it's played.**I highly recommend that after playing you place the platform & cubes snugly back into the foam for storage when not in use to protect all the pieces & keep in the original box. Also turn off the lights when done playing & remove the batteries before storing in the box.Tricks to playing:- Gently tap on cubes to find one that's loose-Push the cubes out enough to get ahold of them then pull them- Try pulling the center first- Stacking on top, stack on the outer edges. It doesn't have to be a complete row (3cubes) to be able to start the next row- Outer edge cubes can slide out sideways if it's center cube is already gone. It may be less dangerous this way.- Yes, it can stand on just 1 cube- Have Fun & Make it Fun for everyoneI will update with pictures soon which will include shots of the cubes to show examples of the chips.

These blocks are so cool and they were a HUGE hit with the family!
The media could not be loaded. I purchased these for my son's 11th birthday and they were the star of the show! Of all the gifts I got him these glow blocks wound up being his favorite! He took off the birthday wrapping paper and was so excited to see something he didn't expect and hadn't asked for. He loves all things neon and anything that glows.Everything with this game is absolutely perfect. From the box design, the careful packaging, to the quality materials it is made from. There are 3 game and light modes, traffic, chill and psycho and all of us had a great time playing between the 3. This is absolutely one of the best game purchases I have ever made. I am so stoked I found a new twist on an old beloved game. It's great for parties, family get together's and family game nights. It is worth every penny, do not hesitate to purchase. You will have a blast playing this cool unique game!
