Very light but really strong
I used this down at the OBX, North Carolina and paired it with a 4500 series Daiwa BG. I didn’t catch anything big as you can see, but using a 3 ounce weight on a bottom rig and a fish finder rig I was easily able to cast out and catch some fish. It was comfortable to use each morning off the surf and was really solid in build. I can’t wait for my next beach fishing trip.

Nice starter surf rod, as advertised . Great detail and some small rod details others do not include. Can’t wait to try it out.

Casts a mile! Has plenty of backbone for bigger fish while remaining sensitive to the slightest of nibbles

Product good but shipping bad
The Penn Battle II surf spinning rod 12ft paired with a Penn 8000 reel, is just what I needed to obtain some distance in my surf fishing cast. The pole came UPS unpacked (like all the others) and it was damaged (bent line guides) but I just do not have the time nore the energy to return and wait for another so will bend them carefully back into place and Fish-on.......Lesson: If I buy an expensive one I will go to a store for the direct purchase. Shipped in thin plastic
Rod was shipped in clear plastic film, nothing else😂. First guide was smashed, causing the rod to crack. Buyer beware. Otherwise the rod has good backbone and quality Fuji guides. I would recommend this rod, but don’t buy it on Amazon. Amazon, why can’t you invest in rod shipping tubes?

Very good light surf rod
This is a great rod for the price paid.Very sensitive.This is the lowest price 9 foot graphite surf rod I could find for the price.It is a lighter rod action than most surf rods found.Mine is the 9 foot with 1/2 - 2 oz weight rating.I mostly use it for surf perch fishing when the surf is up and I can really huck out a 2 oz egg sinker on a c rig.It seems to be a good bait fishing rig as well .Very happy and highly reccomend

Rubber butt end is too large, but good rod
I really like this rod, I’m a fan of Penn reels as well. Only negative is the butt of the rod is too big to slide into the pvc sand spikes. It was a easy fix as I just took some sand paper to the rubber end. Fits now as you can see in the picture. would recommend!
