Expensive, but the labor savings are worth it.
I've been using this foaming fire barrier in commercial construction sites for over a year. It is a great product. The foaming action really makes sealing around conduits and pipes a breeze as it fills gaps better than the standard caulk type firestops. When it comes to sealing around a bundle of cables, like data wires, this is hands down the best product I've used.It is more expensive than the caulk type firestops, but the labor savings are quite worth the extra cost.

incomplete order
i ordered 11 tubes of this fireblock product at $70 per tube and the $100 caulk gun to apply the product and only 2 tubes came with the screw on tip that mixes the epoxy as you ap-y it.....needless to say if you have to stop work for a short period of time the epoxy hardens in the tube making it useless

Make sure you have the right caulk gun.
This tube takes a special caulk gun. Not your Home Depot caulk gun.

Great product. Met all expectations.

Good product, bad value
The foam doesn’t go far for the price. 3M products rarely disappoint but they need to get the cost down. Abesco makes a similar product that goes farther for less. Although I like the product it won’t replace its competitor. My rating is really based on how far a tube goes and the price. The other problem is after 3-4 tubes of the manual dispenser your hand will hurt. The battery dispenser is bulky.

Mixing Tip
Ordered 20 for a job-site; one shipped by itself with two mixing tips and 19 shipped together with no mixing tips. Each tube should be included with it's own mixing tip.

More like 3: 1
Item does not expand 5:1 in my experience. More like 3:1. Item does not come with the mixing tip which is essential to make this work. I ended up having to buy a case of the tips separately, way more than I needed. Otherwise, great product.
