Good Cleaner
Followed directions on bottle. Cleaned practically all of the hard water stains in our ice maker. Having a small container to pour the recommended quantity, 4 oz., into the ice reservoir is necessary.

Maintain your ice maker, avoid service calls
Our ten year old Scotsman monstrosity started throwing error codes. We called for service and the tech had no clue how resistance from sensors trigger events to the embedded controller. Tech is trying to convince me our ice thickness sensor was bad. My response, "what is the spec for the sensor, let's take some readings..." Blank stare. I digress. Three hours and 700 bill later for new ice thickness sensor and still coding, I called tech support at Scotsman. Turns out scale was causing turbulence as the water cascaded down the trays giving a false positive to the computer causing a premature harvest cycle, followed by an error code of harvest taking too long as there was no ice to open the hopper doors to complete the cycle. As advised by Scotsman, broke the unit down, ran emory cloth alone the top edge of the edge of the trays for smooth flow of the cascading water, re-calibrated the ice thickness sensor with 1/4" drill-bit, ran this cleaner through a 45 minute cleaning cycle and we have been producing ice. Called the service company, sent them their part back (which they marked up 3x retail) pretty much told them they need to train their techs better and they waived the invoice. Unless the compress blows, we can handle this ourselves...
