Q: Does this lock in a way that can prevent rodents or critters from getting inside?

Not really, a rat, mouse or similar sized critter could easily sneak under the end as it lifts up slightly even when locked. I have had this outside for almost a year now and nothing but the occasional spider has been on/around the bike
