Not a Photocell
Just responding to the negative reviews. These are handy little wireless devices that pair with a maestro wireless dimmer or powpak wireless dimming module and sense the ambient light in the room and adjust the light level accordingly.I'm a maintenance electrician and I have installed a half dozen of these at work with LED light upgrades in some office spaces. They were met with some scepticism at first but everybody ended up loving them. The best part is they save tons of energy.

Difficult setup and unpredictable operation
I bought this sensor to use in conjunction with two RF switches. I wanted to control some outdoor lights. I had hoped to use the sensor to turn the lights on at dusk and off at sunrise. Unfortunately, there is no way to use this sensor in that simple application. This sensor is designed for use in an office or commercial environment to manage the amount of lighting in a room or hall. It may work well in that specific environment but it failed miserable in my slightly off-label use.Even if I had been using it exactly as intended, I think the setup process is overly complex. Combine that with a test mode that doesn't really test the end-to-end function of the sensor and you get a lot of frustration.I chose a more simple switch with a built in 7 day timer that turns the lights on at sunset and off at sunrise. It even has a built in calendar and adjust automatically to the changes in sun rise and set in your location. Twenty bucks at any of the big box hardware stores.

Auto light sensing function does not work.
I have it connected to a MRF2-6CL wireless dimmer. It can turn on/off the switch remotely with the light button on the face. But it fail to automatic turn on/off the switch according to the environment lighting. I spent lots of time on this but just can not get it work. It is very frustrating. I have to return this. I don't think this controller is mature enough. The manufacture may want to save the battery life and made this sensor very weak when sending the auto control signal. The manual control signal seems to be strong enough and can turn on/off the switch without problem. But I want this sensor to do auto control. If the auto control does not work, why should I spend that much money for this?I like other Lutron product but I will avoid using their LRF2 product.
