DIY steaks better than most steakhouses!
Excellent for an intense sear after using our small convection/toaster oven for the reverse sear method. Using a wireless probe (only while in the oven! They can't handle the BigHorn's heat), I get extremely consistent results with very little fuss. This is now my favorite method even after perfecting my cast iron skillet technique, sous vide, blow torches, searzall, flame thrower, lump charcoal, wood (these last two being my favorites if I have plenty of time), you name it, I've obsessed over it and done it well. Prefer my steaks at home now to 8 out of 10 steakhouses. Takes up little space, uses minimal amount of propane, easy to clean by simply placing grate and tray in the dishwasher.

If you sous vide your steaks, this is the finishing touch, butter really helps!
Easy to setup, but I don't bother with the ignitor and just use a butane torch. After a couple uses I clean it with bar keepers friend, if you mix it correctly and let it past up doesn't leave any scratches. Still learning how to use it. The back burner glows red and the front one does not but creates a crust all the same. Will give a update if I ever figure out what happened.

leaks
I can leak out the bottom if you don't get the drippings in the tray.

sears a steak in three minutes without warmup
This makes steak preparation very easy. Previously, I would preheat a cast-iron skillet for several minutes and add some ghee or tallow, sear the steak, then have to let the skillet cool and find a way to dispose of the used oil. Now I turn this broiler on, immediately cook the steak on one side for 90 seconds, flip it over, and cook the other side for 90 seconds. Then I turn it off. So simple, so efficient. Uses MUCH less propane and has almost no mess. I predict I'll sear 30 steaks before I need to clean the drip tray at the bottom. Even then, it's stainless steel, so it will be a two-minute process.

This thing really works, it's a revolution for making steak.
I've always been disappointed making steak on my grill because I can only get it to about 450, which bakes a steak but doesn't really sear it.This gas broiler is the hottest thing I have ever had. It really is comparable in performance to a commercial broiler used by upscale steak houses. It produces so much heat that you have to put your steak on the lower levels because the top will just burn the meat in under a minute.I go about halfway down and then flip the steak several times and I've got medium rare in about 5-6 minutes max.Cleanup is super easy -- the parts that need to be cleaned are easily removable and made of stainless steel, so they go in the dishwasher. Build quality seems good. I'm not leaving it outside, but it's worked trouble free for six months and doesn't show any wear. The one caveat is the size -- it will sear only one steak at a time. If you're making for a group, you may want the larger size model. But this thing is incredible for the price.

Melted its own propane hose off and nearly burned my house down
Gave it to my son for Christmas today, turned it on to cook some steaks, got it to temp, went inside the get the steaks and when I got back outside i noticed there was no heat but I heard the gas running. The propane hose melted itself off and the button melted itself.
