Works nicely
Really nice solid stand, strong magnet. Its a pretty simple tool, the magnet is strong and the arm locks tight.

Nice magnetic base.
While the magnet it very strong, much stronger than my 2" x 2" magnet base from another unit, it probably won't pick up 220 lbs., but that being said, it truly is noticeably stronger than the 2 x 2's. This one is a 2" x 3" and I am very happy with it's strength. The dial indicator holder and arms are well made and certainly much better than the type with 2 arms that slide on each other. I did fairly extensive internet research and am glad that I didn't get the fully articulating type that reportedly doesn't hold as stiffly. This unit seems to be very rigid. Overall a 5 star setup.

Does good
I liked this stand a lot. It does good and is very sturdy. A step up from the cheap ones you normally see. Only downfall was the 0-1 piece snapped on me when removing the indicator. Wish there were some replacement parts or I’d give it 5 stars

Sturdy and smooth
Nice stand, very well done in terms of finishing all moving and threaded parts, and it is easy to snug up while being hard to knock out of adjustment. Magnet is plenty strong and both engagement and disengagement feel solid - hope it stays that way forever but if not, it's usually fixable. The fine adjustment is smooth and sensitive. The phosphate finish or whatever it is may not be the most durable but other than that there's no reason to ding any points from this item. I used the old post style for many years, had a Noga like this that was stolen, and really I think this is almost on par with the Noga model I had while being much less expensive. No complaints here.

Worth the money.
I don’t know why I waited so long to purchase one of these magnetic holders!! Additionally, the dial test indicator appears to be accurate comparing to other ones I have. Worth the money!

Horrible micro adjust…
Magnetic base is standard. The adjustable arms with ball sockets are very good and tighten easily. They even include a thrust washer behind the tightening knob, so the arms can be slightly repositioned without loosening them (Noga style). After using the cheap-o style that took four hands to set up, I thought I was in love…..until I tried to use the fine adjustment. On Shars website, they have videos of their old style showing how it was nearly impossible to fine tune. Their video then shows the new style with the indicator needle easily adjusted to zero without jumping around like the old one. I ordered the “new style” and on the label outside the box, it said “New.” I have a very light touch, but just touching the adjustment knob would cause the needle to move 8-10 thousandths in either direction. After tuning to zero and releasing the knob gently, the needle would jump 7-10 thousandths-sometimes positive, sometimes negative. Even though I hate my el-cheap-o holder, the fine adjustment is the best part and works smoothly and accurately. This is not a “slam” on Shars products. I have ordered from them before and have been well pleased. After returning the indicator holder, I confidently ordered their 6 inch independent four jaw lathe chuck, and it works as it should. Maybe they had an “old style” holder and packed it as the “new style,” but I don’t feel confident in ordering that again. I guess I’ll spend a little more than twice as much and get the Noga. If you order, maybe your experience will be better than mine.

Tough little indicator
The mag base seems to have a slight catch in it when youbturn the knob release it sometimes but it does hold down good... the thing that impresses me most is the test indicator that came with it, man that thing is tough I've deflected my small hammer off of parts that I would be indicating and hit the indicator more that once and not just a little peck I mean I've smacked it pretty good a couple of times and it's still right on the money, I would definitely buy this indicator again
