Globe Scientific 1304-144 Microscope Slide, Soda Lime Glass, 90 Degree Ground Edge, 25 mm W x 75 mm L, Frosted (Pack of 144)

Great slides for the price. Clean enough for me to use darkfield right out of the box.

My observation is these slides are very clean out-of-the-box. I find I do not need to pre-clean when preparing wet mounts. When I do pre-clean for permanent mounts the results are rewarding. For bacteria specimen preparation, once a slide has been flamed they wet exceptionally well.

The slides arrived in well-sealed packs packs of 72 slides each. These must be manufactured and packaged under highly controlled conditions because the slides appear extremely clean. I sought the borosilicate for added durability and lifetime. These are working perfectly so far and I will definitely buy these again.

Manufacturer's website confirms, speaking about Item # 1304:"Standard shelf life for soda lime glass microscope slides is approximately 2 years..."

I do like these slides for several reasons: quality of the glass, frosted end, and the Globe logo imprinted helps you know which side is up :) However! I expect slides I order to be individually separated with protective paper. I have to be extra careful with these boxes of slides. While browsing through Amazon it was hard to tell which slides were really the best choice for me - a Vet Tech student doing some practicing at home. None of the product descriptions I found mentioned whether they were protected inside the box or not. (I'll look harder next time!)

If you are looking for plain soda-lime glass slide, this is fine. But it is not borosilicate as the product spec has indicated.
