If you don't like what's being said, change the conversation.
My compliments to the authors on extending Mad Men's attention to period detail to the food and drinks in the series. This is an excellent collection of Mad Men-related recipes for cocktails, appetizers, salads, main courses, desserts and sweets.Every recipe is authentic, all food and drink either appears in the series or was served in the 1960s by the bars and restaurants featured in the series. What makes this book truly delightful is the introduction to every recipe, describing the scene in question and providing lots of interesting details about the food or restaurant.Well designed, well structured and painstakingly, lovingly researched.Perhaps you prefer full colour photographs throughout, but I find the colour insert in perfect keeping with the 'period authenticity'.In the words of Pete Campbell: Swell!

Feeling motivated to cook!
It is much better than I expected. Definitely I recommend it to anyone, especially for those who are fan of the 50’s and 60’s era. Loved the pics, although they could have added more of them to have a slight idea on how the dishes should look. Super fast shipping!

Book is beautiful. But it was damaged on the corners
Book is beautiful. But it was damaged on the corners. Why the books are not better packaged, the corners of the book are damaged! I do not bother to send it back. But please package it better. If you love books you hate damaged books!

Unless you are a die-hard fan, don't buy this book blind.
A bit of a strange book, to be sure, that is probably aimed at the ultra-obsessive "Mad Men" fan. A promised look inside the various kitchens, bars and restaurants that featured in a (popular?) American television series. The book describes best its raison d'être: "To ensure an authentic Mad Men experience, every recipe is introduced through a specific scene in the show. And to enhance your enjoyment of the food and drink we scoured period cookbooks and magazines for tips on throwing a successful cocktail or dinner party."OK... So what do you really get? Essentially recipes taken from back-in-time. Nothing more, nothing less. Oh, but it is wrapped up with elements from the television series. Does it work? To someone who has never seen the series it just looks like a poor attempt to shoehorn some recipes into a book. To a devoted fan? Maybe it is different. You might enjoy the references to the series, might find additional inferences and links of benefit and maybe even enjoy recreating a meal or drink from a favourite scene. If you are looking JUST for classic old recipes, perhaps for a dinner party, there are many many great books out there to help you achieve your aims. This book is probably not one of them. This might sound unfair but the additional packaging just gets in the way of it being a good recipe book that could fulfil a need. As a composite (unofficial) tie-in to a television programme it might be a totally different proposition. Certainly there appears to be a lot of tie-in material that could appeal to hardcore fans. But to the passive viewer or even a non-viewer, sorry it doesn't work. There is not even a significant amount of period information that could drip into the reader's consciousness through osmosis either to make it an interesting curio. So a mixed bag. OK the price is not so high and undoubtedly it will be available for a much lower price if you look around hard enough. If you see it in a bookstore it might be worth a browse but you might need to adjust your expectations accordingly. Unless you are a die-hard fan, don't buy this book blind.

NICE pages FOR drinking fun!
from the pages of this BOOK, to the corners of my memories thinking back to MADMEN, I've always critic the excessive way people DRINK, i recently realize it was a reflection of my OWN alcohol consumption...taking the time, the effort and cherish the experience of fixing a mixed drink, made me value a DRINK, just A drink to SEIZE the moment and have more quality than quantity to share and ENJOY, all this said MAY not have to do with the great content of this book from the series I enjoy so much ... the book, the moment, the experience: Less is More! cheers!

If You Feel That the Mad Men TV Series is Superb
The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook; Inside The Kitchens, Bars, Restaurants, of Mad Men by Judy Gelman and Peter Zheutlin contain details such as information on what inspired the Classic Algonguin Cocktail from Season 1, Episode 9 of the Mad Men tv series including the drink recipe mix (pages 24-25). Then on pages 102-103 the Season 3/Episode 9 is discussed where Betty and Don Draper are formally introduced to Henry Francis at a Kentucky Derby themed garden party (although the top of page 102 has the title Rockefeller Fundraiser Hors D’oeuvres . The following pages (104-105) contain a recipe for Chutney Canape Spread (listed to be referenced from James Beard’s Hors D[Oueveres and Canapes by James Beard (William Morrow & Co., 1963). Meanwhile page 105 lists the recipe for Shrimp Curry Butter Canapes (referenced from The Playboy Gourmet by Thomas Mario. There are also so many more enthralling stories in this book as well as accompanying recipes (for instance pages 170-171 discuss Season 1 Episode 6 titled Babylon and a picture of White House Chef Rene Verdon)

Libro muy interesante
Fue un regalo para un fan de Mad Men, sin embargo es un libro interesante porque además de las recetas habla del contexto de la comida y los lugares donde se servía.
